Hello everyone i have a e6750 Core2 system and am interested in Overclocking it, I have already started the process of overclocking it with the help of Kursah's stickied post . I've read of users hitting over 3.5GHZ with a similar setup with Air Cooling and would like to know some more on the steps to take to reach my goal of 3.2(maybe more), if it will be stable and last me a while and not burn out after a year or so. (pc is on pretty much constant aswell).

* CPU: Core2 e6750
* M/B: Asus P5QL/EPU
* RAM: 4 x 1gb geil ddr2 800 4-4-4-12, 1.9 - 2.1
* Video: XFX Radeon 5770 stock
* PSU: Attrix 650T 2 12v rails @ 16A each
* Cooling: Zalman CNPS9500-AT CPU Cooler, Akasa 450 heat sink paste, Stock M/B Heatsink, 2 intake fans of 120mm (1 on side, 1 at lower front), 1 fan of 80mm (side), 1 rear exhaust fan of 120mm.
Temps: CPU 27 Idle, 46 Load (using Speedfan), (I like to stay below 55c, 60c is pushing the boundry of the safety net)

I have currently reached 3.13Ghz in post (3.12 in cpu-z)

BIOS settings:
Front Side Bus/CPU Frequency: 390
DRAM Frequency/Memory Speed: 781 (1:1 FSB:DRAM)
PCI Express Frequency: 100 (Recommended manually set to this for stability and problem prevention.)
vCore (CPU Voltage) - 1.320 (reads 1.320v in bios, CPU-z reads 1.336 Droops to 1.296 under load CPU-Z Verify)
Northbridge Overvoltage - 1.10
Southbridge vCore - 1.5
Memory Timings: 5-5-5-15
CPU Ratio Setting at Auto, C1E , Speed step Features Disabled.

What do you recommend I change for increasing stability at 3.2GHZ (400FSB)? I am currently Orthos stable for the longest I've ran it, which was just over 1hr 40mins, i ran orthos numerous times before and it would bsod on me within 20mins. I played several games straight after the stint: ie arma 2, bioshock 2 and dirt 2 with no problems. before arma 2 would crash and lock up.

thanks for the help.

Edit: i also ripped off his introduction post mostly, and was gonna post pics of my bios but cant get my phone to sync with pc :(

thanks again kursah

drop the ram from 800MHZ to 533mhz or 667mhz (which ever is lower in your bios) then try setting the FSB up 10mhz at a time. each time use linx with max mem and cores to do atleast 5 passes. once you become unstable, up the volts by .5 then once your stable again repeat the process. that board should get that CPU up to atleast 3.2ghz

i already dropped the ram down to 667 before i started over clocking, it is now upto 791 with the fsb., isnt orthos good enough?

edit: when i put my fsb upto 400 i reach the 3.2 mark so im not far off now :(

now you have to remeber, when you go over 800mhz, its all up to your ram if it can handle it. some ram will run up to 1100MHZ and some ram wont so if your not stable pas 800mhz on your ram you might want to up the voltage to about 2V

ok thanks ill give it a whirl and let you know how it goes. think its time for bed now for me though
