Guys could you point me out to a partitioning software that works in x64 environment, I've tried paragon, and it said I must use the boot CD thing to edit partitions which is another purchase... Also had Disk Director 10 from Acronis but have not had the chance to try out the resizing option because I ran out of trial period..... Pleeeeeeease point me to one that works inside win x64 or one that reboots and applies changes... Been googling for ages and 3 names come out.. Symantec, Acronis and Paragon, If so please give me something that is free and full software too (free meaning freeware not illegal means :D)

Thanks!! Badly need1 :(

P.S. Had Partition magic 8 but I need to boot it on CD too :(

Why do you need to boot it on cd? Im not having any troubles inside the windows Environent.

It has problems with x64... Paragon said the reboot instruction was not compatible with the current os.. Please use the Recovery CD to edit this partition...

I don't have partition magic 8 installed now but earlier it DID reboot but only showed the blue screen like when scanning for Drive errors by windows but did not apply resizing... Then it booted to windows....

Hey bro edit that quickly now hehehe remove it from your post, btw THAT is what I have same version but bought online :-s

So, your already using version 9. And the only was its saying its compatible is by using a boot cd? I am googling everything, but it seems everyone is saying that the software manufacturers are supporting 64 bit, but only through DOS, which would mean a boot cd. Thats crappy, there has to be one, i will keep looking.

Thank you, I've been googling since 7am here on our local time (Philippines) till now can't find one that suits my need :( As currently I don't have access to burnable disks... :( Thanks for the help wish we could bump on 1.

Well, it apperas you can do it with partiton magic. But there is a procedure.
Do it with the Rescue Disc.

QUOTE
To create rescue disks

1 Be sure you have two blank 1.44 MB floppy disks before you continue (three disks for double-byte languages).

To create rescue disks from: Do this:
PartitionMagic main window Click Tools > Create Rescue Disks.
Microsoft Windows Click Start > Programs > Norton PartitionMagic 8.0 > Norton PartitionMagic 8.0 Tools > Create Rescue Diskettes.
DOS Run MAKEDISK.BAT from the \<language>\DOS-OS2 folder on the PartitionMagic CD by typing MAKEDISK A: where A: is the drive letter for your floppy disk drive. You can also install the DOS version of PartitionMagic to your hard disk using this process. If you install to your hard disk, the PartitionMagic files (but not the system files) will be installed to a PQMAGIC directory at the root of the disk, and you will not need floppy disks.
2 Insert a blank, formatted 1.44 MB disk into your 3.5-inch disk drive, then click OK.
3 Follow the on-screen instructions to create the disk.

To run PartitionMagic from rescue disk

When you boot your computer from the first rescue disk, PQMAGIC automatically runs. You must insert the second rescue disk when prompted.

Preparation

Before you run PartitionMagic from the rescue disks, you should:

· Turn off third-party disk caches.
· Deactivate/unload any TSR programs that access or modify partitions being changed.

You cannot run PartitionMagic on a Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional, or Windows Me machine that is in hibernation. To use the rescue disk or PartitionMagic for Windows, Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Me must have been shut down normally.

Rescue Disk Limitations

The following features are unavailable when you run PartitionMagic from the rescue disks.

· Split partitions <---------------WTF, ok , so maybe this wont give you what you want. Im not sure what other features it WILL give you.
· Secure erase of partitions
· Undo last change
· Wizards

If you run out of space on the first rescue disk as a result of adding network, SCSI, or CD-ROM drivers to your boot sequence, you can delete the following files from the disk: chkdsk.com, fdisk.exe, ptedit.exe, and partinfo.exe. We recommend that you delete the files in that order, freeing up only the space that you need to accommodate additional files. These files are included in the Utilities folder on the PartitionMagic CD where you can access them later, if necessary.

If you use an international keyboard or character set, you will need to modify the AUTOEXE2.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files on the rescue disks. See Using International Keyboards for additional information.
Checking an NTFS partition with the rescue disk version of PartitionMagic may take an unusually long time. Because PartitionMagic performs checks both before and after the move, copy, and resize operations, these operations may be slower with the rescue disk version of PartitionMagic than with the Windows version.

I copy and pasted this

Also, there were two version of Partition Magic 8.

There was version 8 and 8.05
apparently 8.05 works when the restart happens, it wont freeze on the blue screen.

"After doing some research, I found that it is possible to resize a Windows XP64 hard drive, IF, and here is the important IF, if you only use Norton Partition Magic version 8.05 or higher (once it is updated again).

Using Version 8.0 or lower results in failure to resize the drive, plus it gives an error on boot up every time that requires a registry edit to correct.

Using version 8.05 works correctly and resized my partitions."

I have that version, but am yet to try it in 64, its the same version I use in Windows XP 32. Version 8.05.

I know a little free program which is awesome: BootIt Ng - with it you can create a floppy or boot cd which you can use to boot the program in "DOS mode" - so solves you 64x problem - the rest is straight forward.. i hope this helps..

Aw crud, time to dig out a floppy drive :( hehe guess theres no way to resize/edit partitions..... In windows :(

you could always go to an ubuntu live cd and use gparted,

doesn't norton require you to pay?

Hmm pancho, does fedora live cd have that too?

Bump, used PM 8.05 in windows then rebooted and got THIS XMNT2002.exe not found then it did not partition and normal booted to windows...

I've uninstalled it cleanly, the error happens when I try to make changes on the drive, 1st it asks for reboot in order to resize, when rebooted it tries to perform the partitioning but instead gave XMNT2002.exe not found BUT it is on the SysW0w64 folder, I tried copying it to System32 folder but it just booted straight to the log on screen... To remove the XMNT2002 error from boot up just delete a line on the registry where you can find the BootExecute string

Try this:
"fixed the problem. the problem was that my windows delets the Temp file when shutting down, and that's where PM writes the batch file so i ran the program in safe mode and everything went fine, thanx guys"

Try running it in safe mode. Apparently PM8 stores the TMNT2002 batch file in the temp folder which is being deleted when you restart.

Nothing bro :( my windows doesn't delete the temp files, Gonna try Acronis again.

Guess gonna have to settle with bootable media... XD
