Pavillion dv9000 issue again

I posted before about power and feeling a slight shock from USB ports. That had turned out the be the wiring of the house we were staying at, because back home it was fine.

However now, I come back, and my sister tells me her computer isn't working.

Lo and behold nothing appears on the screen when its turned on. Backlight turns on, but nothing else happens.

What could cause this? It doesn't even display the BIOS screen...
 
Something could be possibly shorting out inside the system, maybe try and open the system up and re-seat everything.
 
i have replaced the motherboard on one of these faulty laptops before and it lasted a whole 2 months before that went aswell.
