Any difference in gaming or daily usage between pbo oc and all core oc?
 
All-core is basically useless as these 7nm CPUs doesn't like voltage. When gaming, PBO works fine

And if you're wondering why PBO gives high voltages, it doesn't matter as there's not much load. In high load situations, it won't use high voltages like that.
 
look at some of the ryzen cpu reviews and you will see the difference. PBO usually higher framerates all core better MT workload results.
 
Depends on the generation of Zen.
With my Zen+, pbo produces too high a Vcore & it's subsequent temp concerns, no matter idle or full load.
I manually configured my pbo to so its' maxed out.
Prefer all core/thread manual oc, can do same Vcore as idle on pbo, but my rig is dedicatd gaming so I don't care.

100% false. Useless in what respect? Gaming? For multitasking, all-core is anything but useless. I'd also argue that there is plenty of voltage range for good all core clocks on Ryzen chips, especially 5000 series. One of my 5800x's runs 4.0 @ 1.18v and 4.6ghz on 1.28v, rock stable. I haven't pushed it, but I'm guessing I'd be stable 4.8 @ 1.32v. I think that's plenty of range of speed and voltage for just about anything you'd want to do except for maxing out FPS.

100% true.
 
The problem with me is when I set PBO, it max out 46 all cores and it has less fps in AAA games when I manual oc all cores 48.

It all comes down to what you are using your computer for.
 
so hypothetical question -- how does PBO deal with games (like cyberpunk / borderlands 3) and the newer titles that distribute load evenly across threads... Wouldn't all core be better for those?

It seems like all core just flat out wins most of the time with some edge cases better on PBO. I feel like PBO is for people and system builders who have good cooling and don't want to spend time tweaking their chip, so you just enable that an walk away, and it's almost as good as an all core-OC that you would have to spend time dialing in. TBH that's probably what I will do when/if I end up getting a Ryzen.
