Hi everyone ! I'm looking for builds and advice, building a PC from scratch (I already did build 2). I'm a 3D artist for games so exclusively working in real time and NO rendering. I was looking at a classic build with a i7 13th gen paired with an nvidia 4080, 32gb RAM, but I'm interested in opening the discussion as if I need to go on the red team to get more efficiency. The budget would be 3000$ CAD taxes included. So anything goes : AMD CPU with NVIDIA, Intel GPU with AMD GPU, full AMD build, Intel + NVIDIA, you name it... Don't need any HDD and SSD as I already have those. I'm also interested in you guys opinion on optimizing this build. I mean things like "you wont need an i9 because, yes it's good, but you'll never have the use for it".
Here is what I'd like and the software I'm using :
- UE4 and UE5 : these are the engines I'm working on. I'd like fast asset discovery and fast shader compiling (--') and just overall smooth experience.
- Substance designer and painter. I know these guys like ram and VRAM a lot (working on a laptop with 2060 ant they crashed on me because i was multi tasking and went out of vram) also they are optimized with Optix which is on NVIDIA based I think.
- Blender
- 3dsMax
- Houdini (later)
- My gaming expectation is playing at a decent fps rate at 2k with a 165hz sceen (it doesn't have to be 165 fps cap).
I'm also waiting to see if the new AMD GPUs make the NVIDIA prices go down a bit... So this means I can wait till January or February if new things are worth waiting for. As I said I'm gaming/working on a laptop rn so is it worth the wait or should I buy now is also a thing I'd like to discuss.
That pretty much sums it up. If you need more things on my side I'd be happy to help you as much as I can. Thank you for your help I'd really appreciate it.
