Changed out my old and Ryzen 2700x for a new 5950x and the computer will only stay on for about a minute before just shutting off unless its on the blue recovery screen it sits at the screen with no issues but when I continue and start it up all the way it will just shut off again

Proper cooler installed? Bios updated? What are system specs? Some boards need a bios update to run the ryzen 5k chips, if that's the case you need to put the 2700x back in to do it. Ryzen 5k chips only work with the last 2 gens of motherboard (400 and 500 series).

Are any of the indicator lights on the motherboard stuck on after booting? Mine are just to the right of the ram and there's 4 that indicate any issue with a red led. Because you did the bios update you might need to go in and re-set your ram speed, voltage, etc. if that's already done make sure the windows is set for uefi or whatever in the advanced settings in bios and that the proper drive is set for the boot drive.

I know the lights your talking about No lights stay on I can manage to get logged in for about a minute on either the bios or my desktop home screen and it will shut off o don't have any time to change any settings before it kills itself

If it goes to the blue recovery screen it will be just fine though

What kind of 600 watt “gold” ps
Edit look up requirements for 5950x and a rtx 2080 and that 600 falls way short.

Need complete detailed system specs, being vague like above will not get you anywhere here

PC nolonger is even getting to the boot cycle it's just keeping a black screen now and still dying off just the same wouldn't even run with the old chip in it either

Replace the cmos battery, reset the cmos, reseat ram, remove storage drives, optical drives, ensure you didn't bend any pins.
Where did you buy the 5950 at?

Apparently it's a smart Series
What is the brand? Details

Bought it from best buy

Thermaltake Smart Series 600W SLI / CrossFire Ready Continuous Power ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply Haswell Ready PS

This thing cost like 50 bucks I'm disgusted ite even in my PC I've never looked at it aside from cleaning the dust out of the back panel

What heatsink?

Did you update the bios?

You may need your motherboard and cpu tested, go to Bestbuy or Microcenter

Heatsinks some unknown brand 240mm aio I did update to msi 6 and your right I do probably do need to take it somewhere

Thats where your problem came from.

MSi are sloppy

And with that if it is the board I'm going asus unless you have other recommendations

Running an AsRock B550 Steel Legend on a Ryzen 5800 OEM, out of the box it booted right up.

Running ram at 3600 AMP.

5950X is 105W
2080 is 250w

Thats 355watts. The PSU would be running near full load when under load, most PSU will have a hard time sustaining that for extended periods of time.

142W peak for ryzens, but yes well under 600W

You need to go back to the old CPU and re-flash the latest BIOS - you MUST have the latest BETA bios, nothing older supports zen 3
7B79vAK5(Beta version)

Vague info like "yeah its flashed" tells us nothing. tell us what version you flashed, tell us you confirmed it updated.

What model exactly?? The two models I found on the LTT grade list show the TT Smart series either average (D) or below average (D).

With a budget or less than average PSU, that bit of difference can make or break.

Your X470 is a pretty decent board. Id put money on it being your power supply thats shitting the bed when you power it on and its triggering overcurrent/overvoltage protection on your mobo or PSU which is then cutting the power.

you want a stronger PSU. something closer to an 850w Gold (if not higher if you can afford) providing its from a reputable manufacturer. But youre looking at paying double or slightly over double then what your Thermaltake cost you.

I mean, you can cheap out but when you cheap out you run the risk of what youre experiencing now with the crashing and also possible chance of fire and fried PC.

My bet goes to the PSU as well. Having a mediocre unit like that in a high-end system is always a no-no.
