Pc upgrade

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my pc with a new cpu+mobo+gpu+ram combination, but I am still unsure which, somewhere in the range of Ryzen5 7600x or i5 13400f and RX6750 XT. Can you guys give some advice on which one is better or if I can find anything better in that price range or a bit above but not too much of a difference?

+1 on the am5 platform... seeing how am4 has done so well and still new CPU is being released in 2024... later on you can pop in a more powerful CPU
intel is not bad but z790 ends with 14th gen... although it has 3 gen of cpu but there wasnt that much improvement in terms of gaming...
but productivity is a different story, if you need more cores amd also have the 7700x 7900x 7950x ...

Nvidia supers are released next month, for now I'd recommend 14600K or 5800X3D, 7800X3D probably out of your price range.

I wouldn't recommend any of the six core zens or their derivatives like the 7900X.

13600K is the same chip, so go for that if its significantly cheaper.

There did seem to be some thermal improvements with 14th gen running cooler than 13th gen though, strangely.

Seeing as you already have AM4, I'd definitely lean towards 5800X3D and a strong GPU like 4070 Super.

7600X is basically as fast as 5800X3D so there's no advantage there.

Getting a 5800X3D with a strong GPU sounds like a great idea, but do you think that my b450 Aorus Elite can take the 5800X3D? It would be amazing to buy just the cpu and gpu as it would give me more money only for the 2 of them and therefore they'd be much better.

Also, I want to add, I have 2 gaming monitors with free sync, so I would get something like 7800XT, do you think it's worth it over the 3070?

Of course. It's listed as supported (F61 BIOS onwards). You have no reason to be afraid of VRM going cuckoo since this CPU ain't more power hungry than the 3600 you own.

That said, 5800X3D + the fastest GPU you can find is your answer. An incomplete one. Your PSU is too weak for 4070 Ti and basically anything rated 250+ W.

RM750 or some EVGA Supernova of 750+ wattage would fix this issue.

Freesync works with NVIDIA.

AMD 7800XT is like 60FPS in 1080p for UE5/RT games like Avatar for example, 4070Ti is 104FPS, 4070 Super should be 90+.

AMD GPUs are usually better performers per dollar if we talk pure raster (7800 XT makes fun of 4070 in this department) but when it comes to RT, Stable Diffusion and some features (like DLSS) support, nVidia comes ahead. If you ain't planning on cranking RT up and you're unsure if you need some AI/render/shmender productivity then go for Radeons, yet you should take into account they are more power hungry than RTX 4000 series and since you're living in Western Europe I assume your electricity bills are about to concern you if you go for a 300 W monster when nVidia GPUs of 250 W capable of the same performance exist.

The first two ones are basically the same premium quality, nothing wrong in going for them. The latter is a bit unknown, can't say what it's worth. Pick either of the first two.

well, the 4070ti is 350$ extra than the 7800xt and that is a bit too much. I wonder what the super will cost.

I'm in eastern europe and the electricity bill is pretty low tbh )

Sorry, confused with some Dane. 7800 XT it is then if you don't need nVidia features more than pure raster performance.

I'm suggesting the 4070 Super, not the Ti.

The point is it will be similar performance but 200 cheaper.

Ignoring RT performance is a bad idea, new games and engines use it by default. Avatar for example doesn't even have a way to turn it off, unless your GPU is too old then there's a compatibility mode.

7800XT has worse performance than the 3070 Ti in Avatar, make of that what you will.

4000 series cards are laughably overpriced, especially in the sub 500$ category, the Super or whatever they'll name them are going to be just as overpriced.

I'd buy a 6800XT, it's usually cheaper and has about he same performance as a 7800XT.

Depends on where you live. In Russia, BNIB 6800 XTs don't exist if we don't count $1000 offerings from retailers who forgot that mining histeria ended a long time ago. Yet you can obtain an RX 6800 XT used for $330 if you're a little bit lucky or $300 if all luck is yours. Yeah, you're missing warranty and the GPU might become a major PITA due to its mining experience but...

6900 XTs are basically the same story but they also are much more expensive on the aftermarket for no apparent reason. Just compare $350 average for 6800 XT and $480 average for 6900 XT.

What country are you located, what is your budget and what will be the primary uses of your PC?
