What is the maximum FSB I can expect to be stable with PC2100 RAM, using a 1:1 divider?

my other PC has PC2700 RAM, but runs at 200FSB. Does this mean the mem is alreay overclocked? The thread u linked stats that PC2700 = DDR333 = 166MHz actual FSB

fsb of ddr ram is always double, dont know correct terminogoly, so pc2100 is 266 mhz, but it is actaully 133.
So u say it is running at 200 mhz in another pc
well then is only at 400 mhz i think, cos usually ddr 333 runs at 333mhz or 320 mhz.

ps i guess, plz corect me if I am talking crap.. :)

PC2700 = DDR333 = 166MHz actual FSB - rated speed

it is running at (non-overclocked by me)
PC2700 DDR400 = 200MHz actual FSB

strange maybe the mobo is overclocking it automatically?
some motherboards have features like this to improve performance and have a reason to be more expensive, in other words they have factory overclocking switched on.
why it is running 200 I donk know.
are u using a amd system?

this is a intel P4 system, built by HP, rated to run at 3GHz, which it does. i want to know if they cut corners with the memory

well as u can see my machine has 266 ddr in it with a 3g p4N, and I have managed to get my ram to 308mhz with no errors, the only thing is that temperature can cause components to malfunction and possibly damage them so if hp have overclocked it wouldn't be by much. but I wouldn't think hp have overclocked ur ram

this is what made me wonder

no that fsb is for the cpu, and 166x2 is 333 so nothing to worry about, but it may only be running at 320 mhz

the FSB is also the speed the memory runs at, meaning that 200x2 = 400

sorry but your becoming confused, the fsb on the cpu is separate from the speed of the ram. It is the external fsb that you overclock on your motherboard which increases the fsb on the cpu and the ram at the same time, that is why u can not buy overclocked ram, but you can buy that states it is stable and has been proven to work at that speed, for example ddr 550.

but in a 1-1 divider, is not the CPU fsb and the RAM speed the same?

well the divider is prob not at 1:1, i guess since i dont think p4 works with anything under ddr 400 in 1:1 settings

the divider is at 1:1, I'll get screen shot later

on a 800mhz fsb, yo can run 400, 333 or 266 mhz ram..but that doesen't mean that the 266 ram will run at 400mhz....that just mean that something will be ajusted to match the ram frequencies..otherwise, your ram would be toasted right now
