PCI Express What would you go for?

Im after a pci express x800 card for my new A64 system that im building Im lookingat buying in the next week or so.

Ive got between 200 and 300 quid to spend but im after the best bargain that i can unlock and overclock with the help of an artic cooler 4.

So what are you guys recommendations also if you can post links to were to buy (preferably in £'s not $)

update ive just seen the powercooler x800 xl from overclockers.co.uk @ 229 incl vat i think il go with that unless anyone has anymore ideas
 
I got an X800Pro for around 200 quid and unlocked the 16 pipes and used the XT bios....I use a Silencer 4 and it seems to keep the temps under 60degC which is 20degC better than the stock cooler...try www.overclockers.co.uk or maybe www.microdirect.co.uk ...?
 
actually, i agree with thumper the XL is only 20 quid more than the pro and has the 16 pipes. Just add the largeer cooler and use ATI Tool to crank up the mhz....done deal.
 
Il go with the XL then ive already got the silencer4 so i should be able to get quite a few extra hz out of it
 
Well i ordered the xl and it came in good time. Just had a quick look at it and its got the samsung 1.6ns memory on it. Wahoo Im gonna have some fun with this :)
 
Christer, did you buy the Sapphire X800 pro? I just bought one from overclockers and wondered about unlocking to 16 pipes. Mine has the 2.0ns memory, does yours? Which bios did you flash with?
 
I have the Powercolor and yes it does have the 2.0ns memory...I used an XT BIOS in the end, but I did have to restart the machine in safe mode, remove all the graphics drivers and reinstall.....so far I can get around 530/535 on OC on mine even with a ATI SIlencer 4 cooler but the performance is such that its not really necessary to run it above stock(ish) speeds. I gained about 1700 points on 3dmark03 by going from 12 pipes and 450/475 to 16 pipes and 500/500 (stock Powercolor XT speeds). You DO have a VIVO card don't you? I don't think non-VIVO's can be flashed...let us know how you get on!
 
Yeah I've got the VIVO. Which XT bios did you use? Might have a dabble tonight ;)
 
it was the Powercolor XT I think.....you should use the Sapphire I guess?
