Phison at the 2025 Computex showcased its next-generation PHY controller designed for PCI-Express Gen 6, the next interconnect standard, that enables 64 Gbps per-lane per-direction bandwidth. The prototype PHY test chip by Phison is labeled PT1601, and was installed on a PCIe Gen 6 test bed, and is the first step in designing next-generation signal integrity products used in SSDs, motherboards, server backplanes, and specialized cabling for automotive and data centers.

We were also shown the PCI-Express 6.0 x4 digital signal. Phison not only creates the SSD controller, but also the PCIe re-drivers and retimers needed to clean and boost the digital signal, and maintain data integrity at high speeds. On topic, the company also showcased its PCIe Gen 5 re-driver and retimer solutions at Computex 2025. As a market leader, Phison offers comprehensive design and validation solutions for SSD manufacturers that include controllers, and these re-driver/retimer components, besides firmware co-development, testing, and product optimization.
