A test like Speedtest.net doesn't take into account the distance from your computer to the servers of the web pages you visit every day. For example, some popular shopping websites that are super popular in my country only have servers in China and your connection must therefore constantly bridge many routers to get to China.

That's why I think it's time for a more realistic test that you'll find on the following page.

I get the same result if I test from Germany.

Taobao is a website that is quite popular in many European countries. About 1.1 billion people in China were actively shopping on their mobile devices in December 2022. Taobao was one of the most popular shopping apps in the country, with over 876 million monthly active users as of that month.

If I repeat the test many times, I notice that the signal travels all over the world and goes through many routers before it arrives in China. In exceptional cases this takes less than 5 seconds. But in most cases it takes longer than 30 seconds when I test from the 'Germany - Frankfurt' location.

Looking at the popularity of the speedtest.net thread, it seems that many people believe that its results have a lot of relevance. But in reality, these "high-speed internet" subscriptions are largely a rip-off.

The only situations where a fast internet subscription will make a difference is if you (very) frequently download large games/files. Or if you often upload large files.

But all those specific scenarios are rare for >95% of internet users.

It seems to me that Brave cannot follow Epiphany in this test.
The best result of Brave was 232 ms while Epiphany has scored four times under 230 ms.
On average, Brave appears to be slower for this website.
