so ive been looking at an inexpensive cpu upgrade. ive got an amd x2 3800+ 2.0ghz currently working very well overclocked to 2.5ghz. im putting together an htpc bit by bit and ive got some money so i want to go ahead and upgrade my current cpu. (ill use my current one for the htpc in case you were wondering)
what makes most sense to you guys. spend ~230$ on opteron 175 denmark @ 2.2ghz or spend ~230$ on athlon x2 4600+ manchester @ 2.4ghz ? similiar price, but the x2 has .2 ghz on it. does opteron have a real performance edge on the older x2 technology? any info would be appreciated. ive come across some decent information around the web but id like some personal feedback.
