I've been having this issue with higher fclk I get an intermittent audio pop in games and videos regardless of whether I use onboard audio or a dac, been bugging me for a while now, tried messing with all the voltages to no avail, and then I raised my TFAW from 16 to 48.

I have hynix ram and in the xmp profile it has a tfaw of 48 so I set it and been 2 days on 1866 fclk without a single audio pop. I keep expecting it to happen and it hasn't, and all I did was triple tfaw.

Hope this helps.

ryzen is still in pre alpha?
i thought they fixed that issue.. i had audio popping all the time back in december.

i'll send this to my friend (he has a 5800X and the same problem)

No, Ryzen is 100% ok.
The problem is your system, i don,t have any problems (5800x) and i don,t know no one with any problems with an Ryzen system, we build stystems for cosumers. ;)

Ok.

Mmkay, I'm running my second Ryzen CPU and fourth AM4 board and never had any major issues. Probably the worst was that 2nd gen CPUs didn't support GK110 based graphics cards (I had a 780 as a temporary card) @ PCIe 3.0.

That happens to my system over 2066FCLK. I can run up to 2100FCLK but its not stable at anything over 2000. So when you say it happens at high FCLK, do you mean high like that? For me it went away when I use my GPU for sound.

That is interesting raising tfaw helped you. I am even more interested in your FCLK though.

I use a Schiit Modi 3 DAC for my audio, optical cable to mobo to DAC, and speakers to my dac. Never had a single issue. using onboard has always been a mistake imo a dedicated DAC lasts for life and is only 100 bucks and improves audio quality a lot.

Oh wow, he found some posts from users who are having "issues". They have systems with many different hardware but it is always AMD`s problem .....
And Intel, Apple, Samsung, Nvidia, Asus, MSI ect of course never ever have any problem. These kinds of comments are always the typical anti ''enter brand'' messages ......;)

You can run a search on any product and get issues. Mind you, the title of a user made thread isn't an indicator of a faulty AMD processor. That's just jumping to a conclusion.

It's ironic that you use the Cache Hieracrhy error. This issue is caused by the motherboard applying too low of a voltage (or by extension a low quality PSU). I have yet to see an example of it where the processor was actually at fault.

The OP is running a higher than stock FCLK as well, are you going to blame AMD for that as well?

No audio pop issues whatsoever. FCLK 1800. Micron E-die.

So it's more like you "fixed" your specific scenario.

Happy to hear that you fixed the audio crackle/pop (it was getting annoying on earlier BIOSes), but I doubt very much that tFAW is the solution. I've been running CJR on my main rig since I was on my 3700X, and it still runs at tFAW 16 like any other half-decent IC. Vast majority of the subtimings on XMP are still set by the board anyhow.

Gen3 Scarlett Solo, as well as FiiO E10K here. Newer BIOSes (2006) and reinstalling audio device drivers eventually fixed the occasional popping, had nothing to do with RAM.

1866 IF can be tough for sketchier Ryzen 3000 IODs though, there's a lot of wacky inexplicable stuff that can happen when IF isn't happy. When it comes to IF there are a lot of fixes that might seem to work (days, weeks, even months), only to prove you wrong when you least expect it.

I experienced the same issue (random audio pop) when testing 1900 IF on my 3300X. No amount of Vsoc would eliminate it, even though benchmarks would show no errors. I eventually settled for 1866, and
- POP! - the problem disappeared.

That's the thing, I've had temporary success with other adjustments like doubling tfaw but the issue returns with a pop in the middle of a movie or in games. I waited a couple days to post this fix because I am almost always wrong. So far I haven't had the issue return and it's something I would notice because it used to happen a couple times an hour.

I have the newest bios and audio drivers and my dac is set to extra safe latency and only ever popped when I tried running 1866 fclk before.

Also the issue occurred with 16gb of ram so it's not the ram or the cpu at fault, and again tripling the tfaw has completely eliminated the audio pop issue for me. Maybe it won't for you but what I do know is that I am able to run my system at 1866 fclk with no audio pops for the first time since I built it and the only change was to crank up tfaw.

That's because you're running it at a speed that is safe and error free for 99.99% of users. Try running at higher fclk.

Even at unstable 1866 OC I had no problems with audio pops. What I had problems with were restarts at high memory usage.

trfc needs to go up as you increase speed to keep the same refresh in nanoseconds (ns), I've had a couple restarts from dropping trfc too low and running a stress test, this kit is only rated for 550ns trfc but I got it down to 380 without issues but have restarts if I go below 360, and there's about 25 points difference between 1800 and 1866 for the same refresh in ns

Also, had the issue return during a download so it's not 100% stable it seems.
