Hello everyone, I want to know if it is possible to stream your nintendo switch to discord and if so what is needed. I play a lot of games on my switch and I've been wanting to know if its possible. I've read a couple things online and I'm confused. Not in a hurry or anything but just curious if its doable or not.

I don't see why not. HDMI capture device -> Virtual camera -> OBS/Discord.
Yes, HDMI capture hardware is part of that solution and may introduce problems like high latency.
Try to pick something with HDMI passthru?

Capture card works, my wife used the EVGA XR1 and Elgato 4k Pro and both work.

Do you have any recommendations for an HDMI passthru?

You could do an HDMI splitter.
The following is a basic model and will get the job done;
https://www.amazon.com/OREI-HDMI-Splitter-Out-Duplicate/dp/B005HXFARS

This one is high quality model;
https://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Downscale-Compatible-JTECH-8KSP12/dp/B0CRSNS45Y

With either of these, you connect the Switch to the input and then the TV/Display to output 1 and the capture device to output 2. This is how many youtube/twitch streamers are doing game console streaming.
