So i recently just changed my pc case and everything works perfectly but the only problem is that the power button isnt working and i now use the restart button to turn on my pc which isnt a problem its just i wanted to know if it breaks the pc or it reduces the longevity of the pc thank you for the help.

You mean the reset button powers up your PC, you probably have the wires from the power/reset wrongly connected to the motherboard.

could be from switch or the cable or bad contact

i tried many times and nothing so i just gave but does leave a bad effect if i use the restart button to boot up the pc?

Shouldn't hurt anything, It's just a momentary switch.

In the same sort of vein as using a screwdriver or bit of wire when you are trouble shooting directly on the motherboard header.

If you can open the front panel most switches are simple parts and you can buy replacements provided you have some number stamped on it for a part number.

If you are very lucky when you open the panel the manufacturer may have used the same switch type for the on and reset. If so, you can usually just swap the reset into the power position. I know I've done this a few time with older cases that have had failed switches.

You could equally add a big red button or any button that pleased you. Its pretty easy to do with a few tools and some time.

Check the motherboard's user manual for front panel header diagram. Try to switch the small connector around (180 degrees).

If nothing works, then the switch is probably broken, and there is no harm using the reset instead.

wait, have you checked the cable from board to front panel? could be not connected right
actually if the power switch not work and you use reset switch to replace it, it's ok as long as you connect it right

Thank you guys i really appreciate it

yeah ill have to check if its connect its meshify c case

You could always put the reset switch on to the power button to test it. Normally they are only two pin connections so be easy to find replacement :) I think I had 10 from China ages ago, cheap as chips (excuse the pun) and they all work fine :) Very handy for testing motherboards with no power buttons on it :)
