Hi!

Epox 9NPA-Ultra with Nvidia4 chipset
AMD 3000+ 64
PowerColor X800XL VIVO PCI-E dual-dvi output

Card does not initialize, I do not get a picture on its output, however I am using a dvi-vga converter. Getting picture thru an old pci card atm with stunning 2mb memory.

I have tried updating cards rom. Mobo should have last bios. 350w powersupply, and card is plugged with the extra power connector 6pin

ie ATI UTILITIES inside Windows finds the card and say:

(loosely translated from Norwegian)

Graphicscard producer: CP Technology Co. Ltd
Chipset: ATI GX-C
UNIT ID 554D
DISTRIB. ID 1002
Undersystem ID 2110
BIOS P/N not detected
Bus type 10
video ram 256 mb
primary display NO?!

so there must be life somewhere? also ie atiflash.exe detects an ATI card. Catalyst center gives error: failed to initizalise properly as I start windows, but installs drivers OK? at least device manager say drivers are installed and that there are no problems with them.

Ever heard about Murphy's Law about "stuffs in-built "#¤!"#¤!"#¤!"#¤!"#¤" ?

try if the card works without the dvi adapter .. take it to a friend and try it in his pc, if it works there it's either your system or the dvi adapter

primary display means the adapter has showed the bios post screen and the windows startup stuff ie. it was the first display to be used by the pc

Is there any setting that needs to be enabled to let gpu post graphic stream as vga contra dvi output? I had the feeling it'd be a catch 22

"You cannot change setting of gpu because you don't have a picture, and you cannot get a picture cause you cannot change the setting of the gpu".

Any way to test if I should take it out and jump on it? Any better 'test' program for 64-bit than ATI Util?

thanks again

There is a setting in the mobo bios that say enable pci or pci-e first.

If I have both cards in and enable pci-e first, pci never goes on. If PCI-E is alone mobo stops at post code 7f (press f1 to continue or del to enter bios setup)

Any way to test if it has enough power? Tried booting just mobo, memory and pci-e without plugging in cables to HDs etc, but still...
