Have u tried the head cleaning utility under maintenance ??

I have this every so often with my Epson Workforce printer and doing a head clean usually fixes it.

Unplugging from the wall for about 15 or so seconds will reset it. That might help.

Are they original manufacturer or aftermarket inks cartridges?

That would have been good to know from the beginning.

Odds are the print heads have totally dried out. They may or may not be fixable. See How to Clean Printhead for Better Ink Efficiency | HP® Tech Takes

you need to push head cleaning and try to print it in highest quality, but you will need more ink for that

Just buy a new one, they are dirt cheap and basically disposable now.

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I tried cleaning the printheads with a solution of windex and warm water to no avail. My dad only needs a printer that can quickly print documents so he's going to get a cheap laser printer designed for fast printing.
