Hey folk's.

I have a Living room PC, that is a Win10 64b Intel based gaming/entertainmnet PC. it's been having this strange issue, that has always been present in that PC, but it has become VERY annoying, as its been occuring very often. When the PC is turned on, it will NOT have a network connection. unplugging, disabling, nothing will allow it to connect to the router , other than power cycling the router (WPS will also allow it in iirc). It will also sometimes just drop the signal in the middle of use, for instance while my daughter is in the middle of a youtube video , and Im really getting annoyed with having to power cycle my router many times a day. Now here is where it gets odd.

I have switched OS (win 7 to Win 10) not because of this issue , but it still persists. I have switched USD adapters (from a Belkin N150 **which has worked perfectly for me for around 6 years so i like them** to a Comfast CF-WU830NS Mini 300Mbps) the problem STILL persists. So here is where i began to run out of idea, and I figured my last hope would be a different router, So I switched from a ( netgear WNDR100v3 to a netgear WNDR 3800) and guess what? the problem persists. I am officially out of idea, I have gone into the PC's settings to make sure the Power settings werent turning off usb, but it has not helped. is the something you see here that i dont? also sorry for my terrible typping i got a new KB and it is worth about as much as 2 one way tickets to Dog penis island.(sorry im getting pissed @ this adapter issue)

thansk in advance. regards

Have you Right Click > Properties > Configure > Advanced and checked the settings in there?
There's usually a few settings in there dictating wireless channel selection, roaming aggressiveness and what band of wireless it's using. I'd consider changing channels, very often American homes are flooded with wireless, so channel interference is widespread.

Exactly as Rcoon said. I have the same issue before and I solved somewhere from changing the settings. Sorry I can't help you well now as my PC is my system spec is dead.

From my memory it seem this is quite an apparent problem on windows 10 and recent updates of windows 7 especially for old receivers and receivers not from the country. If my memory is right I change the wireless receiver setting to 802.11d. It suddenly work for me. The downside with that is the receiver now can only see the router its paired with not other routers.

i looked and apparently the damn thing was set to "turn off to save power" I KNOW i unchecked that box, but i digress, ill set it to NOT turn off, and then ill see if that resolves the problem. thanks for the advice.

well, my daughter just turned on that PC, and its the first time in about 2 months that i haven't had to either reset the router or mess with the adapter for a few minutes, so im gonna go out on a limb and say its not a coincidence, and that the issue has been solved. Thanks for your assistance.

The problem still persists, ive checked all the settings in configurations and still nothing. I have resorted to assigning a "guest" network for just the problem adapter, that way i will be able to narrow down the problem to the PC.

I know it's offtopic, but I feel you've earned it in this instance @MIRTAZAPINE:

Back on topic, are you using Windows quick start or resuming from hibernation or anything similar? I have seen this on older wifi adapters in some instances. Just a thought.

If the wireless adapter is old pre-2013, try using windows "basic" driver, unistall current driver and let windows install it's own and see if that works out. Doing that fixed issues i was having with an engenius usb adapter.
