Hello there, I recently received a free pc. It has an asus cm1630 motherboard, which is an oem version of its retail counterpart, locked by a bios. I’m looking to flash a modded bios to it that unlocks overclocking and unlocking the cpu to a phenom ii x4. But every time I try I get a “boot block in file is not valid” the usb is formatted with fat32 between every try and still nothing. If it’s a problem with the file itself could I download the bios for the retail version and flash that instead? Cheers!

I looked up the motherboard, it's a M4A78LT-M right? If you flash the bios with the latest one from ASUS (version 802) you'll get a greater number of supported cpus. In terms of flashing a modded bios sometimes you need a bios programmer/hardware to do this.

You need AMI/Phoenix flashing utility for moded BIOS to be verified (depending on what your board uses, you can only use one of them). DOS or FreeDOS pendrive will be needed.

Hi, just to let you know i solved this, I used windows 7 and the old asusupdate utility for the bios flash and the rom worked perfect, thanks!
