Problem typing with mouse

I'm having a huge problem when I type to the extent I spend more correcting the mistypes then I do typing the the sentence.
What is happening is my second finger is hitting the right button (on a standard mouse) and bring up the context menu. Is here a mouse with a shorter right click button were it's harder to hit that button?

Hope that made sense

What if you change some mouse settings from the control panel.

Take your hand off the mouse when you're typing?...

I normally do. I'm a two finger typist. :(
Scrolling around on a web page for example. Clicking on links. Hitting right button when I wanted the left because a double reaction with both fingers.

This!

It seems like you have a combination of two problems:
  1. You are typing one-handed whilst resting your other hand on the mouse. Type with two hands, that's how keyboards are designed to be used.
  2. You are likely sitting at the wrong height such that your wrist is crooked and your fingers can't relax above (not ON) the mouse buttons.
Without meaning to sound callous, the solutions (assuming I understood the problem correctly) are:
  1. Learn to touch type with two hands. Seriously. It's a skill you'll need from now until your deathbed, most likely. Don't waste hours or days of your life being a slow one-digit typist. Future you will thank you!
  2. Assess your desk, chair-height, wrist angle. Again, future you will thank you for saving yourself now from carpal tunnel wrist injuries, which you sound like you're heading towards already.
I accidentally right-click a lot when using the HTPC on the sofa because the mouse mat is too low, ergonomically. I have to make a conscious effort to keep my fingers off the mouse buttons, but I don't do any serious work on the sofa, and for gaming I use a proper tray for the keyboard and mouse, so it's much better (assuming I'm not using a gamepad)

No on the one hand typing and the other on the mouse. Maybe I should of said a two finger typist.
Two handed typist; that ship has sailed. I'm seventy.

lol, sort your wrist position out. That's where the phantom clicks are coming from
If you struggle to keep your fingers from resting on the buttons, try a vertical mouse:

I know they look bonkers but they're very natural to use and hold, I buy loads of them for work and people who use them transition straight to them without any comment, unlike some of the weirder ergonomic options.

Yep. Doesn't have to be an Anker, that's just the brand I buy here and can vouch for as "adequate quality, reasonable price" having tried a couple of others.

I'm sure there are better and worse options available but they're all look to be a pretty similar shape that tilts the buttons and wheel by about 70 degrees or so....

Hi,
Ghetto method would be use a broken middle finger brace and tape it so it won't bend/ follow your index finger
Good also because it makes it easier to flip people off with an excuse :rockout:
