thing is that i cant connect two or more speakers. others are either rear or side speaker mode ... with my old p965 msi i could change input/output...all six 3,5 jacks could be used as front speaker out...why can't I do it whit asus p5q...

dont know

with my old mobo i clicked on the output/input logo in realtek and chose between front speakers, rear speaker and sidespeaker, but p5q doesn't have that feature if i put my headphones into one of these jacks i get weird sound, because the music i'm listening doesn't support surround speakers...is it about drivers or sth.???

good sound only comes out of the green jack

Try installing the realtek drivers from ASUS's site, it should add the realtek application that lets you configure the ports.

thanks, i tought that my self littlebit, cos there might be newer drivers for p5q

still doesn't fix my problem...one new surround effect and thats all still doesn't let me choose if I want the output to be headphones or speakers or whatever :(

Right click on the input/output jack pictures to get the input/output selection.
"connector retasking"

i'm not dumn( i know what i need to do )...did that with my old p965 neo-f, but asus p5q doesn't have that feature...

Whoa, boy. He/Her never said you were Dumn(dumb). I think he was just giving you an idea of his or hers...

But as to the P5Q: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=2164&l1=3&l2=11&l3=709&l4=0
Per their spec, that board does support jack detection and front port re-tasking.
I don't know if you have set up for AC '97 or HD Audio, but here are the Realtek links:
HD Audio...http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

AC '97...http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

If you can't get to the mapping and only your green output is working and the others do nothing or give garbage, then you may need to return the board or RMA it.

Have a Nice Day!:)

If the p5q does not support jack retasking, then theres no way you can get it to work how you want. The only option is a seperate sound card.Maybe you can run onboard and a sound card together,to give you the extra front speaker out.

think I'm going to buy MSi mobos in the future.... :)

i doubt that it's a hardware problem, IMO software is the problem...

Imo msi mobos are not as good as asus,it seems a bit extreme to buy a new mobo just because the onboard sound does not have the facilities you want.just get a seperate sound card.

No. I think in the future you should invest in a dedicated soundcard!

You can pick up a cheap creative soundcard for like $26.99

Its definitely a software problem, but unless you are going to re-code Asus's software package personally there is nothing you can do.

but if I take a MSI realtek software for the same realtek chip
