recently i fresh install a windows 7 professional OEM on my company Desktop computer

Problem:

after fresh installation.. the core threads that i can locate in windows task manager where 4

after installation of of drivers and everything. after reboot

i can only find 2 threads

both observation verified on CPU-Z..

after fresh installation without drivers and everything 2cores and 4threads
after installation of mobo drivers 2cores and 2threads

Rig setup:
Mobo: Asus P7H55-M
processor: Intel core i5 650 3.2ghz
ram: DDR3 4GB

how can i activate the 2 threads? or should isay the hyperthreading and hyperboost to 3.4ghz?

will be monitoring this thread for replies...

thank you

Do the following check

Press windows key+R

type "msconfig"

Go to the "boot" tab

press the Advanced options button.

Make sure "number of processors" is unchecked.

EDIT:: Things also to check.

make sure in bios things like

C1E speed step etc are disabled. Basically anything to do with throttling or power management.

Go to control panel and select high performance mode. under "Power Options"

Do the following check

Press windows key+R

type "msconfig"

Go to the "boot" tab

press the Advanced options button.

Make sure "number of processors" is unchecked.

:banghead:

i thought it will only affect the boot up time of the pc..

i set it to 2 cores.... thinking will speed up my loading/boot time..

thank you.. will try it tomorrow...

:) NP man nope it makes the change system wide. if you uncheck that box all the cores will be availible.
