Im running 2x HD 7970 in crossfire and i would like to use ULPS to deactivate other GPU when not needed. Problem is everytime i boot my PC, ULPS is not working unless i re-enable crossfire, i just want to make ULPS work without always re-enabling crossfire in radeon settings.

Why do you have to "re-enable" it, isn't it enabled normally? Which drivers are you using? Try other drivers.

my brother had this in windows 10 as well, with 7970 crossfire. He never found a fix. Because of it, he saw ~30-50W higher idle and light load power consumption too, especially with youtube and hardware accelerated video playback.

Must be a driver issue as it worked for him in Win 7.

So he always re-enabled crossfire after boot? I contacted AMD about the problem.

Before he upgraded to a GTX 1080, yeah, he toggled it on and off every boot. drove him mad enough to make him upgrade.

I think i found problem: I booted PC and checked if ULPS is working.. no.. then i killed razer synapse from task manager and voila ULPS is active!! But i kinda need synapse to run, because there are all my macros and settings.

my brother replied that he was running that software, for his keyboard. you may be onto something.

ULPS is a crossfire feature, in other words it is only enabled when crossfire is on. It is enabled by default. You may be thinking of ZEROCORE, which puts the gpu into a similar low power state.

ULPS is not an active state, ie refer to the above. If you are getting accelerated gpu clocks then you are a victim of hw acceleration and need to disable it or use RTSS to ignore the offending app's call for acceleration. Do you know how to use RTSS for this function?

ULPS is an AMD setting only with crossfire configurations. I did Notice MSI afterburner has a setting pertaining to ULPS.

You should read more carefully, Razer Synapse does not have option to disable HW acceleration, i don't know how to ignore it from RTSS either.

Scratches head... why should I read more carefully? Did I make some kind of ruling on the razer app?

I referred to this quote ''ULPS is a crossfire feature, in other words it is only enabled when crossfire is on.' '
I know how ULPS works, problem is that even CF enabled ULPS is not active until re enable. And between you and me Razer synapse is most shittiest mouse/keyboard configuration i have ever seen.

I'd send Razer a headsup along with AMD on this, course both will blame eachother but the guy did remove synapse and it resolved the problem.
