I'm having serious issues with my Dell Precision T3600 I bought without an OS. The upgraded bios can see the two 4tb hard drives. Windows 10 from USB install does not. No matter what I do it does not see them. Anyone?
Sys specs:
Xeon E5-1620 3.6GHz
16GB DDR3 1600mhz
Nvidia quadro 600
635w PS

You probably have a mismatch between the IRST & the BIOS. See if you can find the setting in BIOS for switching from IDE, AHCI or RAID.

Thank you so much for the response. In my AHCI operation tab I'm set on AHCI with an option to have the AHCI controller operate in ATA mode or disable it.
My HDDs are both showing in the system and identified as non RAID devices. So I've got the SATA/RAID option disabled in BIOS.
I've switched the sata cables, tried just one on mobo HDD0 and HDD1.
I've tried a separate HDD I had. Once again it sees it in bios but not when trying a windows install. I've flashed the BIOS successfully. They're both showing on my legacy boot sequence. I'm at a loss here. Am I to a point where I need to clone a drive on another system and see if it will boot in the T3600?

CMD "shift + f10 from win USB" >DISKPART > CLEAN
UEFI boot - GPT table

and when you using RAID or AHCI ,,.,.try also load correct driver before system installation "AHCI is most time OK ,.,.RAID is more problematic"
but basically - 2TB+ - only UEFI + GPT table

I really appreciate your reply. Unfortunately your response is a bit above My pay grade in respect to my knowledge base here. The drivers given these days are not in their basic form anymore but wrapped in installation packages that aren't recognized by the DOS based bios. Maybe I don't even understand that..but a step by step is closer to my ability level here. GPT vs MBR? No clue.

for new HDD 2TB+ - only UEFI >> GPT table
must reformat new HDD "all" >> GPT compatible under UEFI boot

AHCI or RST drivers "contains windows system" but better install correct one for chipset version "before installation"
or send bios link "i will verify what is inside"

edit WIN7 or older ?
small chance is modded WIN7 ISO > UEFI compatible or CSM compatible mode .,,.but 2TB+ >> GPT
on LEGACY boot probarly not works this large HDD

tutorial for DISKPART

SHIFT + F10 from windows installation
DISKPART ,,.try CLEAN command + reboot windows installation

edit

first try only DISKPART + correct BOOT MODE
when is all right - windows 10 OEM drivers ,,.this is alternative "old driver for C600chip - win8"

or you must send HWid for better drivers .,,.,.but think OEM from win10 is latest here"when works"

I appreciate all the responses. But I'm unaware of how I am supposed to install drivers (and thank you very much for the drivers) to a computer without an operating system. I would need a reference or a step by step. Some of the cryptic responses (to me anyway) make me think I'm punching way above my weight class here.

Would it make any difference If I tried installing windows 7 as was originally shipped with the T3600?

Try creating a boot CD or USB stick using Ultimate Boot CD. Maybe it will see the drives and allow you to delete all the old partitions. Once there are no partitions Windows should see the disks & allow you to partition & format. It's been years, but I have fumbled my way through it before. :)

There are two ways of formatting a HDD/SSD: MBR (old method) or GPT (new method). For 4TB drives, GPT is required. If the drive is formatted one way and the BIOS is set to boot the other, it will not detect the drive at all. For bonus points, the BIOS option to select the boot mode is neither called MBR nor GPT. It is called CSM (on for booting the old way, off for the new way).
If you need further info, try Google, it will give you better info than I can.
