ok so i heard aout the newest ATI drivers, they would provide more stability and better performance for dual core cpus! Of course i installed them because i have a A64 X2. Well know im having big instability problems. My card keeps turning off! first it freezes up like its begining to overheat and then VPU recoverer reboots the card. It may do this one more time and then the card shuts down completley leving me with a blank screen yikes! i checked my card it is not overheating! I set it back down to default clocks without luck. So then i reinstalled the drivers. But now my card is being rcognized as a Radeon x800 GTO (its a radeon x800 pro vivo)!:shadedshu WTF is going on here! i also put some screen shots here for you all so you can aide me

its not just service pack 2 it has to do with not having net framework installed. Install Net framework version 1.1, it can be downloaded independently if your using a bootleg version of windows just google it. All newer cat drivers are showing pretty much any pci/e x800 12pipe cards as GTOs in their drivers as this is what ATI is renaming old stock pros and newer 12 pipe cards. They are even releasing an r430 16pipe card (powercolor) that is basically a renamed x800xl. So newer version drivers will probably start naming xl's as GTOs too.

HELLO
last day i bought "ATI RADEON 9250" 128 MB 64 BIT. its working well in win98 but in my XP
the CATALYST is not working. (i have installed .NET FRAMEWORK 1.1 1.2)
when i click CATALYST: the HD light blinks for some seconds and no result.
when i run CATALYST WIZARD: its says "runtime process is not available"
when i try to restart runtime: no result
whats the problem.
I have CELERON 1.8 Ghz, 128MBDDR RAM, ASUS P4VP-MX board, ATI RADEON 9250
connect3D 128MB 64bit.
i download the latest catalyst from www.connect3d.com but during installation it says "INF not found" after that it gives error: "Agp driver is not available please install suitable video driver" But i have already installed my boardchipset prosevege S3 drivers and also i have already intalled driver from ATI RADEON 9250 CD.
what should i do .

First of all disable S3 from bios, then uninstall all drivers for S3 if some remain after disabling. Then uninstall all ATI drivers you have installed. At the end install new Catalyst from ATI web page.

I wonder if you could be having problems using XP and CCC with only 128MB of RAM? Has CCC worked for you before?

Also ATI makes available a "display driver only" package on their site if you don't want CCC.

I have 2 options for you to try

^^Did you check for irq sharing?

Check to see if you are sharing irqs between your video card, sound card and lan card.

1. Click Start, right click on My Computer and select Properties.
2. Click on the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button.
3. Go to the View menu and select 'Resources by type'.
4. Expand 'Interrupt request (IRQ)'
5. Check your IRQ's for any particular sharing with either your lan, video card or sound card. These three components should have their own IRQs. For now disregard the usb and other chipset drivers that may be sharing that IRQ as I haven't read, seen any problems from this.

The only remedy that I can think is the following:
-sound card & video card sharing IRQ, move the sound card to a different pci slot
-sound card & video card sharing IRQ with onboard lan, disable the onboard lan in bios and buy a lan card
-video card or sound card & lan card sharing IRQ...your screwed unless it has jumpers to switch IRQ. Or move the lan card to another pci slot.
-check your MB manual to see if you are able to flip dip switchs for IRQs

The 2nd option
-Download Driver cleaner

-Install driver cleaner. If asked make sure that you grant access for everyone to use.

-Make sure you uninstall your current drivers for ATI by using the ATICIMUN.exe file located here:
X:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\UninstallAll\ATICIMUN.exe

-Reboot in safe mode (hold down the F8 key just before you see the black XP screen on bootup) and start driver cleaner in SAFE MODE.

-Select the option to update Driver Cleaner

-Check the box "Select Multiple cleaning filters

-Select the following files (by hitting the add button) to clean from the "Cleaning Selection"
ATI
ATI CCC
ATI Hydravision
ATI IPG
ATI IGO ATA
ATI IGP RAID
ATI MMC
ATI Remote Wonder
ATI Uninstall Utility
ATI WDM
S3 Savage some systems may require you to delete this driver from your bios. But make sure when XP is booted with out proper drivers that it uses this as generic.

-I take for granted that you do not have an ATI Motherboard that doesn't use ATI chips drivers. Please make sure that you verify and confirm that you DO NOT USE these for no other purpose then for your video card!

-Delete them

-Reboot to XP (normal mode)

-Ignore new hardware found

-Install latest CAT drivers (currently 5.12 or 5.13)

I have 5.12 installed but atitool insists on saying 5.5+ :D
So the op probably has the 5.12 or 5.13 installed.
I would suggest to properly uninstall the videodrivers, start with cat-uninstaller.exe
then use drivercleaner to wash out any leftovers.Ignore the new hardware found messages after every reboot of your system.

Now this would do the job and you can safely install the drivers of your choice, but first check if you disabled any internet connection.
After all is done you can switch on your lan-connections again and all should be well.
If not, repeat the above steps and then you have to go in registry by typing regedit in the command prompt.
Now search for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\enum\pci
the top 2 lines should represents your videocard,if it has dual output.
Chances are there now is more then those,so check the next lines also,if you read any reference to radeon or plain videocard you should choose properties and check the control all box,(second from below in drop down box , I got a dutch windows version)after that you can delete the line. After a reboot your system should detect your hardware again properly and you can install the drivers.

Now at the times I had this, there was usually 3 registry keys for videocard. So don't expect to find heaps of them :D

Goodluck...
