i'm having sirieus problems with Winrar and instal exe files when i open them winrar crashed or the instal shield crashed this hapent today a hour ago right now i am scanning for virus but i had this before a year ago and forced me to reinstall windows is there a way to fix it?
i tryd System recovery but doest work

Yes re-install Windows. Then, make sure you have everything updated (drivers etc..) and make sure you have sufficient Virus and spyware protection. I use Avast and spybot, they both are free and both work quite well.

no other way to fix it?

i'd run windows update and then uninstall winrar and reboot then scan registry with either CCleaner or RegMechanic and fix up registry conflicks then reinstall winrar and try again.GL:toast:

is Spyware doctor okay?

ok thx i give it a go

i even cant use uninstall.exe gona reinstall windows

looks like a virus destroy your *.exe so the better way is reinstall windows because you don't know what other have infect

so what's the best Anti-virus scanner and firewall?
i use Mcafee Security suit 10 in 1

I would say that Mcafee sucks @zz I support it at work and think its horrible .I like AVG virus scanner and its free .then adaware and spybot for that stuff.and avg rootkit for a weekly scan ...oh ya i LIKE PEST PATROLE(like adaware) too but its not free.

If you like strong and light on resources, think about spending a bit on Nod32, but all other suggestions by the guys in this thread are sound.

ok thx i look into it a friend told me to use norton 2007-2008 i used that fiew years ago and did't like it, is it realy that bad? i give nod32 a try

Norton is horrible. Heavy on resources, costs FAR too much for an anti-virus that performs no better than AVG (Which is free), and comes with countless number of programs that do everything you can do from within Windows (if you buy the full package which a lot of people do).

I'm seriously considering switching to nod32 from AVG, but I've been with AVG for so long and it's free lol.

As for the installshield wizard you are pretty screwed. You could try a repair install, I had the same problem and I managed to fix it with a repair install, so it may work for you.

Maybe it would help if you reinstalled windows installer from M$.com.?.

clock down cpu, memory first

Maybe it would help if you reinstalled windows installer from M$.com.?.

i did that once a year ago when i had the same prob but didt work
i reinstalled windows now and winrar is still crashing some reason?

i am using nod32 now runs realy smooth only it uses 100% of my cpu power while scanning

clock down cpu, memory first

i lower my cpu a bith

i lowered my cpu clock to 2,3ghz and still getting problems with winrar
