Hey guys as some of you know i got a PS3 20gb model 1st gen model which has no wireless built-in;its been connected via my laptop wireless for couple years and i was able to join my friends games etc.
But now after formatting my laptop and sorted connection i have noticed my NAT type is 3,which is a problem for me since it does not enable me to join my friends games or form party on games.
I have enabled internet sharing from my laptop wireless, which allows me to play online on the ps3 but because my NAT type is 3 i cannot create or join friends party. =(
my router is: Belkin F5D8233-4v3(01)
and i am connected via CAT5-E from ps3 to laptop.
Any advice will come in handy and my laptop specs is in my sig.

Thanks

I'm confused.
You have the PS3 wired to the laptop via ethernet port? and the latop connects wirelessly to a wireless router or something? Laptop is acting as a bridge?
(Sorry I don't own a PS3 and not that familiar with them)

Maybe draw a picture for us? We like pictures. :D

Ooh yes i like pictures too :)..

UPnP enabled on the router ?. And did you try to set DMZ open for the IP so it allows every thing.. IF DMZ does work at least you will know it some thing to do with the router then.

I do not recconmend you to leave the DMZ on if that does work.

Apparently there is 3 NAT types and you need NAT 2.. Although never noticed TBH.

EDIT:
I did see this from another post maybe some help

NAT 2 is just another name for PAT (i think). port address translation, which assigns a port for each connection going out to the internet, so the router knows where to send it back.

Some suggestions: disable any firewall on the laptop
Try forwarding the PSN ports to the laptops IP, Im guessing the PS3 is on a different network than the router? Maybe a little IP diagram to confirm that info.

PSN ports:
TCP: 80, 443, 5223
UDP: 3478-3479, 3658
