Has anyone had a PSU make cricket noises every now and then?
My PSU never used to do this until I changed the motherboard from a ABIT AV8-3rd eye and Sapphire X1950pro 512mb AGP to what I have now.

My PSU a Enermax Noisetaker 600W has been making a cricket like noise on and off recently.
My PC has been running stable except for the vcore jumping from 1.45v to 1.49v all the time but has been dping this since I installed the motherboard.

If the cricket noise means the PSU is about to die, what PSU would be suitable for my rig?

I don't want to get a PSU which is excessive but just more than what i need.
I'm looking at Enermax or Silverstone at the moment.

I won't cheap out on PSUs as I've seen what happened to my mates PSU.
Big Chief PSU send smoke signal before death.

psu

yeah i think so that ur psu will die soon
i had it once but it last about 3 days then it was bye bye

i have now a antec true power quatro 1000watt and i am happy with that

and i saw ur specs so i made a list for the good psu between 500w and 750w

Chieftec CFT-560A - 560 watt
Tagan TG500-U35 Easycon XL 500W
SilverStone Strider ST56F 560 watt
Thermaltake Toughpower QFan 500W
Zalman ZM500-HP 500 watt
Tagan TG600-BZ PipeRock 600W
NesteQ Nova 600 Watt
HEC Cougar 750W

these are between 100 euro and 180 euro

are you sure its not just the fan wires hitting the blades of the fan or something like that?

@Pyeti
Yes I am sure as the sound is coming directly from the PSU.
It's an electrical noise not a fan catching on a wire, plus I make sure cables are all out of the way of the fans for air flow.
The PSU makes the noise evey now and then without me touching the case.
Sometimes it will make the noise after shutdown.
Just starts to buzz for no reason.

@BlackIce
I will have a look at the Silverstone strider.
It's tough to get a variety of PSU brands in NZ.

Occasionally I have a cricket / chirping noise from inside my pc. Haven't really determined whether it's the PSU or something else in my case.
So far everything's working fine though, and I first heard the noise months ago. It only makes the noise once when the pc is switched on.

I've noticed Enermax PSUs do that alot, I've had several new ones out of the box do this at work. I've not had issues with them. Yet...
