Question on multiple monitors?

If I have a video card that has two dual-link DVI ports, can I use two DVI => Dual DVI splitters to run 4 monitors?

Not for gaming, just to run multiple monitors.

Does this work? or is the card limited to dual displays that it can drive?

Don't see why it wouldn't work

Normal graphics cards I believe are limited to two displays (unless you get the ATi Radeon 5870, which with the currently nonexistent Eyefinity edition you can drive up to 6 displays). Otherwise, you need to use something like the Matrox DualHead2Go to split a really high resolution over 2 displays (costs a lot of $$$ though).

I use nvidia 280nvs for just this issue. Cheap off ebay. Oh, and with ultramon.com. Better, IMO, than the window/screen management tools that come with the regular drivers.

I could be way off, but i think if you were cloning the original screen to the other three the adapters should work.

If you plan to extend the desktop, I dont think it would work, as stated above.

i run 3 off my asus 3870x2 4 head, smooth across all 3

before that i used a 4870 and a ati 1300 for the 3rd, it ran fine spanned. I think i could have ran my 4th off the second head of the 1300, so i think that you could do that no problem with 2 - 2 head video cards

i think almost any dual gpu graphics card can run 4 monitors and mabe some of the quattro and firegl cards

the ones i found are

ATI FireMV 2400
3870x2
4850x2
Matrox Millennium G200 MMS Quad Graphics adapter

I highly doubt something using the Radeon 7000 would support anything above XP (or even have good drivers at all).
