AI slop figures heavily among the detrimental practices attempting to rake in $$$ from what would've in any other age been fun games. Pre-release is a worthless place to determine actual defining value.

Case in point. Excellent Japanese origin PS game series (Everybody's Golf) with a few Westernizations (Hot Shots Golf) that managed to preseve a below the surface satisfaction no reskin could hide. A few decades later a PC Bamco/Atari/... moneygrab arrives selling PACMAN and uncertain amount of DLC/MT/??? :fear:

@TheLostSwede this is an excellent example of the perhaps hard to define barrier a few attempts have been made to explain to you politely. Definitely weird, certainly has touched on inserting characters from that other type of game, almost certain to attract a predominantly male audience, yet lies on the other side from interests triggering editorial duty. On PS2 onwards this was an absolutely amazing online multiplayer experience for literally anybody once you mastered single player mechanics.

As a second entry with no stigma or history attached, Gecko Gods.

Here we go again, on the lookout for "shovelware".

Questionable quality upon release. Small issue you may have heard of that has proven to have widespread implementation within gaming.

OP suggested two highly varied examples on opposite ends of a genre that is work safe to discuss. Both are highly interesting to me if followed through on in ways that defined a full game release up until the last few years.

EG/HS practically defined what a character builder was on PS4. Not to mention how to construct an online multiplayer element to extend upon content already present.
