Well lads!

I'm just after buying a new lil system which contains an Asrock Z68 Pro3 Gen3 motherboard + Corsair Vengeance 8gb DDR3 1600Mhz CL3 XMP + Core If 2500k - Corsair A50 cooler.

I have a question about the audio part on the motherboard.
http://www.dabs4work.ie/products/asrock-z68-pro3-gen3-s1155-intel-z68-ddr3-atx-7XNJ.html

If I were to use an external AV receiver for audio.. is that possible to do so?

Can I use HDMI cable for audio??

Should I still use my Auzentech Prelude X-fi sound card or ditch it?

Basically I don't know anything about audio on motherboards! A lil explanation on what audio is like on a motherboard and how good or bad it is would be nice! also what can I connect it to etc..
Any info would be nice!
Cheers!

Audio on the ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3

- 7.1 CH HD Audio with Content Protection (Realtek ALC892 Audio Codec)
- Premium Blu-ray audio support
- Supports THX TruStudio™

Quite decent but only you can decide since you have both the board and the card. In your opinion, which sounds better?

Can you not use the sound from the video card though the HDMI connection ?, or am i just to used to using ATI cards lol. O btw i have the same board but never tried that lol.

your video card supports audio thru HDMI.

your video card supports audio thru HDMI.

I was not sure when nvida card started that so did not dare say.. But yeah right from the v card to the A/V to the TV..

I won't have the parts until monday! I will certainly be testing them both out for any actual differences xD

I have a HDMI cable spare that I can plug into the V-card but my A/V receiver does not support that method grrr! I will need to replace it!

The THX pro studio seems like a nice program! Will be looking forward to see what that can do!
