I read this: http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/AMD/memory/131
I still don't understand any of that stuff, but that doesn't matter because I just want to know something straightforward:
As soon as I install a new pair of ram into my MOBO there will be an auto setting, and I would have to manually set the proper timings for it, right? In my situation, MOBO - Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L, and the RAM: OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel, and CPU: E4500
And on the 2nd page of that tutorial, do I really have to worry about all those other timings?
So if I want to overclock, all I have to do is set the RAM divider to 2.0, then manually set the other timings to 5-5-5-12, and I'm all set to doodle around with the actual CPU overclocking? I'm not sure if I can lock the PCI/AGP settings, but I sure hope so.
