well i've finally gotten past my 3ghz brick wall on my 680i LT, but to get it to run stable at 3.2ghz i had to sync CPU and my RAM, 4x1GB corsair which are rated 4-4-4-12 ddr800 at 2.1v.
At 3GHz i had no need to sync so i ran my ram at it's rated speed/timings. But once i upped the CPU to 3.2Ghz it wouldn't run OCCT for more than 2 min, so i set the timings to auto and walla it runs strait for an hr no problem. So i here's my question, do timings make that big a difference? and if they do is there anything else i could try in bios besides voltage to the memory to fix the timings to 4-4-4-12?

Ram is running at 712Mhz sync mode, 5-5-5-17, v1.85 with everything auto.

just a side note, i just noticed my 12v is down to 10.43...is that bad, it stays at 11.8v or something when i have the cpu at 3Ghz 1.31v

What program are you using to verify voltage on the 12V rail?

I would also say if you can run the ram at 4-4-4-12 the PC would seem a bit more responcive!

i just noticed the 12v being low when i ran OCCT for cpu stability, i'll reboot and look at bios to see what 12v rail is.

well the 12v according to bios is running 12.29v so i take that as i'm fine. glad too cause i was under the assumption that OCZ GAMEXTREME were good psu's....didn't want to thk i'd have to replace it.

and i figure for the timings that there is no real answer to that besides play with bios here and there and see if i get lucky. thx though

run OCCT and have CPU-z running next to it and see if the rail drops there durring an OCCT run

I have two 700W GXS PSU's, dont have any rail issues but things can happen.

You also might want to check your NB voltages as your running 4 sticks of ram and continually upping your speeds. Need to compensate for that extra throughput. I have the 600 watt version of your power supply no problems and im on Crossfire.

hmmm i htk it was just that once for some odd reason, it's been readin 11.77, like it always has, and i got the timings to 4-4-4-12, i reset my cmos for the first time in probly a month of random fooling around/tweaking, and i read it's good to reset the cmos after you've had a bunch of no boots/crashes. well whether that was it or not i got the timings to where i wanted them, thx guys
