Random disk device in my device manager?

Noticed some weird cpu utilization in task manager, closed all my programs but it didn't go back to normal, restarted PC and it seemed fine after. But then I went into device manager and there was a random 'seagate expansion scsi disk device' under my 'disk drives' and 'storage volumes' that was greyed out as in installed but not currently active. Never had anything Seagate related on this pc ever, anyone got an idea of what it could be? Worried someone might have connected externally online or something but don't even know if that's possible..
Just ask for more details if my post is unclear, please

It's most likely an external HDD or HDD enclosure that was connected to the PC at some point

Thank you for the quick reply-- I have not connected anything external to my computer.

maybe check all of your drives on the inside to see what drives are on the inside. the outside shell can be a different brand and the inside can be a different brand.

What about LaCie product? It might show up as SeaGate

I have not made any hardware configuration change to my PC for the past year, never had any external storage device connected to this PC since it was built. Been updated on what has been in device manager regularly and this showed up today out of nowhere

So did you want to give us a device ID and screen shot? Or are we supposed to cast ritual magic next?

I uninstalled the device instantly as I noticed it inside my device manager, so I can't do that. Do you know if it is possible at all to connect a virtual device online from a remote computer like this and as a result it shows up as an external storage device?

thats convenient. As for remote pass though, is that what the thread is about? nation states trying to steal your data? Just want to clear it up before we have another "who done it" thread.

Sorry I'm not sure what you're referring to. Is it possible to remotely connect without my knowing through some downloaded software or something? And connect an external storage device and as a result it shows up in my device manager. I haven't had anything Seagate related for the past 20 years in any of my systems so I stumbled when it showed up and was worried if someone was transferring files from my system to their Seagate external storage or something. Can't think of any other explanation but I'm not sure if that's even possible?

No, that's not possible

That's comforting to hear at least. I'm still wondering how it ended up in my device manager, but as someone externally connecting and stuff is not a concern I guess it's not too important to find out.. just have no idea how it happened-- never experienced this before!
