Reducing fan noise

Ok so i just got this case up and running and it has:

1x 120mm front fan (in)
1x 120mm side fan (in)
1x 80mm side fan (in)
1x 80mm rear (out)

plus PSU, GPU fan and CPU fan of course

and the problem is its just so loud!

How can i reduce this noise so i don't get kept awake by it

Either mod them to use less voltage(= less noise), or swap em out for lower db fans all together.

Yes, if they are running at full blast than not much you can do other than regulate the speed by controlling the voltage. If you have them hooked to your motherboard, you may be able to do it via software.

One other thing that helps in certain situations is putting a dampening between the fan and case (like a rubber gasket or grommets). I do that with all of my fans.

Then there is simply getting better fans - higher CFM, lower dB.

If you can get the fan's to run at 1000 rpm, you will find this very quiet. You can do this by setting the fan speeds in the bios (if possible), otherwise you can set them with speedfan if you motherbord supports this. (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php)

hmm, looking at a reducing a voltage how to page now, looks like it may be ok. I know i am going to get rid off the 80mm side fan for a start - i don't need that at all. That should reduce some noise.

unfortunately they are all linked directly to the PSU so they will all go full pelt.

i had a similar prob with fan noise, i had

120mm (front-in)
80mm (side-out)
80mm (back-out)

plus gpu and cpu


so the first thing was i 7v modded every fan, this was a big jump towards silence. 2nd, removed the rear fan as its useless, got a freezer 7 pro and accelero s1 for gpu...now its shhh

practising the 7V trick on a bit of fan cable i have kicking around
need a small screw driver by the looks of it though
