After a fault on an Asus X99 motherboard I had to replace it and have attempted to set up raid 0 with two SSDs which are the only devices on the SATA array. The Bios can see both drives in Sata information, and it can see both drives in the F8 Bootmenu, but only one of the drives appears in the boot priority. I would have been happy if this had been the array, but the size of the disc indicates it is only one of them.

How do I recreate this array so that it loads Windows correctly - there seems to be precious little information about this on the net.

When you say "attempted to set up RAID 0", what specific steps have you taken already, if any? I can't determine from your post if you have ever set up a RAID before; or if you had RAID, it broke, and you're trying to set it up again.

Yes perhaps that first post didn't make it as clear as it should have.

Original system was running 2 SSDs in raid 0 motherboard changed and I know they have to be regrouped as an array together the ASUS manual says nothing about using certain SATA sockets so I have to assume they're all equal.

I enable Intel Rapid storage in the EZ Bios then go to advanced and enable the SATA Controller to RAID as per the instructions I go to the Boot and set Launch CSM to disabled - save & exit, when reloaded it should give me the option under 'Advanced' to access Intel Rapid storage but there nothing there. Ctrl +I doesn't work either & if I can't access the menu I can't set up the array.

Any suggestions?

Not all SATA Sockets are equal
read the motherboard manual to see which Sata Controller is the one to set up your raid disk setup (and which ports it controls).

one of my boards has a marvel raid controller ( for SATA ports 5+6 )
normal non raid drives would connect to Sata1-6 but raid only on 5-6

Well whaddya know! It DOES MATTER which sockets they are plugged into!

Damn ASUS
Here are the instructions from the manual
Connect the SATA signal cables

That's it ! It doesn't say anything about which sockets are available for RAID and which aren't. Anyways I now how Windows loaded and didn't have to recreate a new RAID it did it all automatically. Now I just have to go online and reactivate it.

Deep Joy !

Sometimes the info you want is in diagrams as well as supporting text

I went back to the diagrams and it talks about RAID, but it doesn't make any mention of which sockets to use, and the whole lot of them are labelled together as number 8 !

I'm sorry what am I missing here? It doesn't specify which SATA connectors you have to use. 7 8 9 10 are on a different controller and cannot be used for RAID I can't see that mentioned anywhere.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
The "CHIPSET" drivers are NOT 7,8,9, and 10... so if only by deduction and reading...

... but I can see why it was missed. :)

Oh my...
So you guys thinking he has one drive connected to each controller?
Lol!
I have never seen a Mobo with the same colors on different chipsets...what the actual fuck?

Well...I had to go through your other thread just to find out what mobo you had. I missed the part where you mention replacing the X99 Asus Deluxe 3.1 with the X99 Deluxe II. Apparently I wasn't the only one to overlook that.

Anywho...have you ever heard the term RTFM!?

Also...do us a big favor and fill out your system specs. If you want the most accurate advice on issues with your system's components.

Thanks! :)

Yes I should, but the thread started on a generic point.

As for the manual the point you posted is under the beginning of the thing under system specs, where the RAID instructions are right at the back and contain no reference to which ports are the correct ones.
