RGB manual control

Hello all. I've been out of the loop for a while and I've also forgotten my account here.

I don't have an rgb header on my motherboard but I have a CM MasterAir RGB fan that comes with the standard 4 pin rgb header. It seems that the pinout for these headers is 12V-G-R-B. Is the led control done through low side switching (pwm) given that it is a common anode config? I assume the switching circuit is not integrated into the fan, same as for rgb led strips so I would have to limit the current if I were to manually light up all leds to get a white light by supplying 12v and tying the G-R-B pins to ground.

Someone please confirm if what I think is correct or not. Thanks.

yeah if you wanted to hard wire instead of using a controller you would need to curb that voltage for sure.

I would use an arduino for that. Try google for smd 5050 rgb arduino or something like that.
