RivaTuner prevent game from launching

This is the first time I've encountered this problem. Metaphor: ReFantazio refuses to launch when Afterburner and Riva Tuner are turned on. There are no errors, when I click on the game shortcut, the screen lights up black for a second, but then returns to the desktop. INTERESTINGLY, if I try to launch it for 5-10+ times, the game eventually launches. This suggests that Riva Tuner does not prevent the game from running at 100%.
Also, I've read that people had similar issues with all sorts of games, like The Witcher 3. For example, I also played The Witcher 3 with Riva Tuner enabled and everything was fine. So everyone has different experience even with the same games.
I was very curious why after many attempts the game still starts. Can someone tell me the reason in simple words?

The issue is probably rivatuner side as that injects into anything run on the computer.
To make the problem less likely to occur, I would set the default profile to none for the detection, and only whitelist specific games.

Now days I only let afterburner/rivatuner run for a second to set my voltage curve and then shut it down unless I want the diagnostics.

Pretty common actually with injectors. some times trying to inject post launch will let it run just fine. Make sure u run the latest beta. Old versions often have compatibility issues.

As far as I understand, this is a minor problem and it does not seriously affect anything? I think I will continue to launch it with multiple attempts.

I have the same issue with Red Dead Redemption 1. It is not MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner. With the amount of games that DO work with this utility...and the few that don't...the game developer did or didn't do something to allow it to run. When I play RDR1, I simply close Afterburner / RTSS and launch the game...then, I have a hotkey to initialize AB/RTSS again...after the game is running...and it works. You might try this...or the other alternative is to play the game and don't use Rivatuner. Others seem to have the problem with Asus and PNY like apps as well. Not the app, but as I said...make sure to let the game dev's know

Of course, this is initially a problem of the game, it’s just that Rivatuner is indirectly the cause on behalf of the user, when you have all applications closed except this one, and the game does not start. Moreover, Atlus games are not examples of well-optimized projects.
But it's still interesting that this happens with different games, like The Witcher 3. I played with Rivatuner, as did many other people, but some people still had this problem.

Some games that run anti cheat do not like programs like Riva tuner in the background. Some people have had their Steam accounts banned (VAC banned) because Riva tuner was running
in the background or so I heard.

IF the game you have does have anti cheat that maybe the cause. Disable anti cheat if it does have it and it may work then with Rivatuner after that.

I think I've been using Afterburner+RTSS for 10+ years now and I've only ran into a few games that simply refused to start up with its opened but if I tabbed out and started them up after the game that usually fixed it. 'I don't really play online competitive games tho'

Sometimes its not even the game itself, but overlay stuff that makes it appear the game doesnt run/stopped/froze..

uninstall RT and check.

HWiNFO and Afterburner both have the same issue revolving around how their programs work and changes made in recent OS/updates. Internet search will bring up evidence from dev of one or both stating they are helpless without completing rewriting their program.

oh glad to hear that! so you didn't use the mode that turn off anti cheat? I'm planning to play it next, so wanted to know about rivatuner. Never thought that this could be a problem lmao
