Rosewill power supply AC power Connector loose [Fixed!]

I've had this 650W for 6yrs and now it's Loose but my friend says he can fix it. I've never had this issue before so I'm guessing with All the In/Out plug-ins it has to be loose right?

I think a form of glue gun would be better as superglue cracks over time.

Then again they have better glues now.

Did you try a different power cable? They are all standard and it could be the cable's connector that is too worn and not the supply's.

If it turns out to be PSU's then I might suggest wrapping a layer or two of electrical tape around the cable's connector before inserting into the PSU.

Super glue? Ummm, I would think he would want to be able to remove the cable. Plus, that does not ensure a good electrical connection.

I guess we need more information. You are assuming the PSU's connector is loose as it sits in the PSU case. I assumed the PSU's connector is worn and does not hold the power cable in tight.

If it is the connector just as we see in that image, not sure that is a problem. They just snap in place during assembly. As long as the connector does not fall out of the PSU case (or in!), and as long as the wires inside are still properly soldered to the inside side of the connector, and as long as those wires are not shorting anything (no sparks!) it is okay if it is a little loose.

In fact, just checking two PSUs here (an Antec and an EVGA) they both wiggle a little bit and the Antec is barely used and the EVGA is brand new.

Using needle-nosed pliers, I would carefully make a slight downward bend in each of the terminals, forcing contact with the terminals inside the cord. That would also wedge the plug towards the bottom of the receptacle, keeping it tight. If it still loses contact, try bending them upwards instead. Also, find a new cord, because loose contact has probably caused arcing and burning of the brass terminals inside the old cord. And clean the terminals in the power supply with alcohol, or an emery board if arcing is visible (that top terminal looks slightly burnt).

Yeah he mentioned it may be the cord so I'll switch from my 775 Build's PSU cable and report back

Yep it was the cable. I just switched cables and all is good now

Cut up plastic credit card or the like. Also good for spreading TIM.

Use RTV silicone glue. The outlet has tabs molded into the receptacle, on the inside. If one broke on the inside you better remove any loose pieces, then you can cement it back in.
