Hello guys
so last day i got a new graphic card rtx 2060s gaming oc from gigabyte (msi already out of stock)
when i run benchmarks like heaven engine or aida 64 gpu stress i hear coil whining
so i contact the store i got it from for a RMA ( i live in algeria we only have 1 year warranty from stores) , he said that my psu (cooler master mwe 500w 80+) is the cause of the gpu coil whining and i need to get a new psu
So my question is is that true or this greedy guy is lying?
my full system specs:
gigabyte rtx 2060 super gaming oc
ryzen 5 2600 never overclocked
asrock b450m-hdv
2*8gb ddr4 3000mhz gskill rgb
1 tb wd bleu 7200rpm hdd
3 case fans
case spirit of gamer rogue 2
cooler master mwe 500w 80+ white

Damn it we TOLD you to avoid gigabyte cards :( they suffer from high temps and COIL WHINE. its not related to PSU its just most gigabyte cards are like that by nature of design, go google gigabyte card coil whine and look of how wide spread this issue across gigabyte cards

And yet here I am with a 2060 Super from GB, and not even a peep of coil whine.

I just went through 2 MSI RTX 2070 super in one day that have coil whine and decided to stay with it although we have other brands in the store I work at but I felt not comfortable to keep trying new cards, so MSI is not immune to coil whine.

Perhaps you'r using an Aorus card ?

Budget gigabyte cards are more prone to coil whine than some of the top tier Aorus ones

Gaming/G1 Gigabyte cards are more like their mid tier ones, the standard Windforce with no or cheap backplate usually is their low/budget tier.

I'm also using my third Gigabyte card over the years and so far zero coil whine nor with my bro's 970 Giga Xtreme.

Very high '100s and more' FPS can also 'trigger' coil whine from what I noticed.

And ye Coil whine sucks,my PSU does it very lightly but I still have to completely power off my PC when I go to sleep else I can hear it in the bed when theres no other noise source..

Completely agree with this part. I have seen this on many cards as of late. Even my 2080ti does this when the FPS are too high.

Ive had 2 2080's and currently a 2080Ti now and probably for a long while.. all EVGA They all have coil whine to a degree some worse then others.. just not persistent (meaning not every 3d app causes it to be audible). My Zotac 1070 also has it.

If you want to know for sure.. install ati tool from this site.. ignore kernel message and run it.. you will see what i mean. The scan feature in afterburner and PX1 will also show it.

Coil whine is a natural characteristic of graphics cards especially those with some serious power. So dont be scared of it. My RTX 2080 Ti from Asus Strix make it too, not with all games and not so loud but is there.

At this point coil whine is like a lottery, some people might get it with a card while some might not. As said above, it's a "natural characteristic of graphics cards".
It's annoying but it's just a thing that happens with some graphic cards.
