Im having a weird issue with my 3080ti and running borderless windowed mode when gaming, the game runs fine untill i tab out, then everything slows down to a crawl, and that may sound normal but the issue is its the whole pc slowing down, typing in text on steam or a web browser can take seconds to appear, almost like the system goes into a super low power state by accident. As soon as i tab back into the game window, everything runs fine.

Im on a 10700k with 32gb of 3600mhz cl16 ram, running 144hz on my main display and 60hz on the two side monitors. Also of note is that im on windows 11 21h2.

Ive tried several different drivers, ive tried asking the gpu to prefer maximum performance in the control panel, turned HAGS on and off(Makes a slight difference with videos, but doesnt fix my issue)

Im sort of at a loss here, hoping someone else might have experienced this, or perhaps have an idea of what it could be?

Seems something with G-Sync.
What happens if you turn off G-Sync and then alt-tab.

I had G-Sync once set for windowed and had issues with desktop apps, setting G-Sync for only fullscreen fixed that.

It was only on fullscreen applications but ive tried turning it off and will see how tonights gaming session will go, should show up if it happens with this disabled

EDIT
Okay after playing games for a few hours i can say that turning of g sync entirely fixes the issue, and has cleaned up a few stutters that i experienced as well, while its nice that its gone, it also sucks that im unable to use g sync without issues, any ideas on how to make it work properly?

Ive tried enabling it again to have a look at clock speeds when it happens, and it looks like a mess, they jump around from the 1900 range when focus on game, to as low as 400 ish when tabbed away, it jumps around a lot, but always a lot lower than the max, thought that was worth throwing in there

Just set G-Sync fullscreen and try your games running fullscreen.
Yeah thats what i do with most games, but something like league of legends for example, doesnt have very good ways of for example... reply to a steam message or whatever while ingame, thats why borderless windowed mode is very handy in that case, and some other games just dont have a true fullscreen mode .

But i guess in the end i could just straight up disable g sync in the games that i run borderless.

Replace the monitor, report the problem to nvidia/monitor maker/game makers
