I've got

  • RTX 4070 Super
  • Latest drivers (clean DDU install > safe mode reboot again > reinstall from offline nvidia file > reboot normal)
  • Windows 11
  • ultrawide monitor (~3k resolution)
What's weird:
  • Memory controller load jumps between 0-30% at idle, occasionally to 50% or even 70% (desktop/browsing/right after turning on)
  • Graph suddenly became smooth/stable when gaming. No more spiky behavior.
  • Also by the way I was stuttering HARD in hogwarts legacy in hogsmdeade. Is this normal?
  • GPU-Z and HWiNFO64 both show this behavior
  • Power draw is normal (15W idle)
  • Temps normal (36C idle)
  • No malware (full rootkit scan done by MBAM, so unless the virus is insanely advanced or something I should be safe?)
I spent like multiple hours being told by an LLM that I may have a cryptominer because of the highly suspicious behavior. I am now thinking it's got its ass in its head. But still. Is this memory controller spiking normal for 4000 series cards? Now I have to know. Was 100% unable to find any corroberating information

I started trying to diagnose and look at problems because of unusual stuttering in hogwarts where cutscenes would crash to 20fps and stay that way for a long time. During this time, memory usage would not match up in my system (process explorer showing different figures than task manager).

Thanks.
