Rtx 4090 suprim liquid custom loop

Hello guys , I’m doing a flat mount custom loop pc build (basically a wall mount but will be laying down) under glass . The oem rtx suprim is boring with no RGB .

My question is: Can or is it safe to cut the lines from the suprim (leave about 3 inches of line on the in/out) and add quick disconnect fittings and add my own 360mm (3 fans) radiator then use my own clear tubing with a pump connecting to cpu and gpu . (I know I could have got a non liquid cool rtx then added a water block) but rtx 4090 water blocks aren’t available for every brand yet. I think just the founders addition. So I got the suprim with intentions of using it how I bought it. But I’m just dabbling ideas around and if it’s possible. Why not add a bigger radiator with rgb

thank you this is my first post! Sorry if it’s a noob question. This is my first pc build. I’ve done research but Not too much info on modding graphics cards that are oem liquid cooled

It’s fine if you are willing to assume the risk, I would suggest flushing the coolant and pressure testing your system after it’s all hooked up for at least 12 hours to ensure there are no leaks.
 
I was actually thinking of doing the same; it shouldn’t be a big deal for the pump given that the rad is already 240. As for in and out I don’t know but you could always temporarily setup a rez so you could take a look.
 
Thanks for reply steevo, so all I would have to risk really is leaking like any other custom loop. And I hear ya loud and clear. Get all the old liquid out, Flush system

If I were you, I would email MSI asking if it's a pure copper block/copper nickel, or if there are aluminium parts in it. Many AIOs use alu rads and copper blocks, relying on additives in the coolant to stop issues.
 
Do you know if its copper inside? honestly its probably aluminum for cost reasons.

If many AIO’s use aluminum rads then I should be fine. Because I’ll be replacing with aluminum 360mm Corsair . But will MSI really respond . I figured they’d be too busy and or tell me not to do it . When I could .

I mean telling MSI you are ripping apart their GPU probably isnt a great idea. I would just ask them the materials the block is made out of.

I think it’s a copper cold plate and aluminum back plate. Would I still be able to use custom aluminum rad. I assume the aio suprim is an aluminum rad. So theoretically, replacing it with a larger aluminum shouldn’t be a problem. But yes good idea. I should ask them what it’s made out of

I mean yeah; the safest bet is the lowest denominator and replace the rad with one of the same material then find a coolant that can be run on both.

I am in a meeting so I cant respond in great detail; but I mean, I think the pump/rad assembly is azetek? (sp?) you might be able to get the materials from them or a similar kit if you cant get it from MSI direct. Which may help you make a more informed decision.

If you're going to the trouble of a custom loop you should not mix metals.

Mixing metals isn't as big of an issue when they are isolated by coolant, and most coolants are formulated to passivate mixed metals, and using a quality glycol based cooant and distilled water, if you are worred they make additives that also act as wetting agents. Anyone can buy a gallon of premixed industrial coolant that already has the moly protection for less than $12. Much cheaper, more stable, nothing will grow in it, pumps and seals last longer, it’s heat carrying capacity is excellent and the small addition of something like water wetter makes it the best coolant besides distilled water with water wetter.

I have had the same pump, radiator, COU block and a different GPU block using this coolant for 8or 9 years.

Welp, as people have said, don't mix. However, Its not my video card and when its destroyed and or ruins everything else in the loop, you have been warned.
 
Or just replace it with copper if the oem rad is cooper or aluminum if it’s aluminum
 
Throw away the radiator and you should be fine.

I was just running the numbers for parts for a custom loop and using this GPU and chopping the radiator saves $100 on the cost of buying a cooling block. This brand is already 300-500 less expensive than other brands on Amazon.

Yep, no issues here : )

Been using it for almost 2 decades now. It also glows under UV lights and lubricates pumps.
