RX 590 is supposed to be a 12nm refresh of 580, with +100MHz higher clock and same DDR5 memory.

we'll see, this is a rumour. the author of the leak says such card is happening soon, and the name mentioned to him was "590". (tbh rx 590 sounds badass as far as names go)
it does seem like a bigger chip name, but then again, they're not gonna go 480-580-680 on basically the same card with higher clocks.

If they manage +100MHz on the core and slap 9 gbps DDR5 on the card, it'll be a decent increase in performance, +10% more or less.

the IDs are different and found online 6FDF, the revision IDs however match the 570 and 580, the 480 580 580X use the same exact IDs just different revision IDs, so we are looking at either a die shrink and same SKU like a V2 (which is what i put in DB) as a placeholder and named Polaris 30 or 670 680 etc.

it could be 575 585 too i guess, the 570+ version will be first though afaik

I think the owner of the rumor knows there will be a better version of RX 580 but only knows it will have 100+ MHz increase and same VRAM, and he just assumed it would be named RX 590, something that comes from his own brain rather than from what he got the news from.

Meaning:
1- It could have more shaders which probably means RTX 590.
2- If not, then it would probably named RTX 580X or just RTX 580 Refresh.

i would think the "x" version or whatever it will be will have a much more refined memory controller. the memory used on many of the cards was more than capable of clocking higher than what you could actually get out of it. if you looked at many of the pascal cards that used the same memory as there polaris counterparts you would see like +400mhz overclocks on the pascals while on polaris you could very rarely get anything over 250mhz and that is pushing it. tbh, pascals memort controller shamed polaris in this regard and i believe thats why we never saw any gddr5x versions of polaris. the memory controller simply could not use it and was not up to the task.

RX500x series is not really news, and not really what you think it is.
All cards are listed on RX product page: HERE
If you look at the specs - they are the same cards as their non-X counterparts. The only difference is, and I quote, "Radeon™ RX 500X Series for pre-configured OEM systems".

RX590 on 12nm definitely seems like a better candidate at this point, but who knows what kind of specs will this card have...

Running on old ass GCN there is little RTG can do to close the efficiency/performance gap. At the same time something is better than nothing.
