Hi folks i intitally wanted to upgrade my cpu to one with a lower tdp 65 watt but started to play around with my cpu,gpu and managhed to get my 11600k to run at 5ghz and even higher in games but av,avx 2 is super hard fpu,cpu and gpu loads is an fare easier load the prime 95 snall and smallest fft.

I tried drit 5 benchmark,. no matter what i did, avarage was 97 % peaking at 98% a few times, oc my cpu and lowering the speed from my gpu did nothing

5.0 ghz and 2100mhz on the vram fast timings and 2565 mhz (max) on the gpu i was getting 89-92% use from my gpu in grid legends

That's kind of low.

It's a cpu question but also gpu and i have antother thread about a cpu so im trying here

Can i get the last % by upgarding my cpu and to what ? 11700 (f) because it's 65 watt, 12600k,13400(f also a low tdp cpu),13500 (total 14 cores)

What cpu do i need to take fully advantage of my gpu ?

Seems about normal to me. What does it do on non-codemasters games?

Your cpu's fine for an RX 6700 XT, even at stock it should be more than fast enough.

Just wondering why i don't get higher usage out of my gpu when i oc my cpu to 5.0-5.1ghz stock is 4.6ghz on all cores

97-98% utilisation is spot on. Your GPU is doing more tasks than just running that benchmark, so it is unusual to see it hit 100%. It could be hitting power limits, temperature limits, etc which can also throw the percentage off.

Grid Legends is not the toughest game out there, so maxing out at 90%-ish is not outside of the norm either.

This sounds like it is working as intended to me.

Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure 70-90-94%

Well it just don't in some case do 1% more when my cpu is oced to 5-5.1 ghz (i don't always have to oc it to it's max)

At one ponit i was underclocking my gpy to 2200mhz just to see how big as diffrence it would made to how much it's used, basically no difference

Apparently, such games don't utilise your hardware properly. Go for 3DMark and well optimised games (considering terribly low standards as of today games) such as RDR2 and Tomb Raider.

Seeing 90ish is especially completely okay if games require less than half VRAM. Believe me or not, this makes for a relaxing GPU as well. 6700 XT has more VRAM than it can use efficiently and its memory bandwidth is also abundant considering how slow its GPU is. The real bottleneck is its GPU no matter how hard you try to OC it. Just can't do it.

I don't know what causes your itches but 6700 XT, despite all its weaknesses, is a totally fine GPU for 1080p gaming and can handle absolute majority of games at 1440p at ultra settings. Can even make some noise at 4K (very questionable experience if you ask me, see my PC specs XD).

And I do remember your "I want a 12th gen CPU" thread. Forget about it. Want more frames per second, buy a stronger GPU. 11600K @5 GHz is by no mean weak at gaming, yet 6700 XT is far from ideal for 1440p144Hz. Go for 7900 XT or 4070 Ti and see a whole lorry of difference. Or wait a couple generations and buy yourself a complete banger of a PC made of used RTX 5090 and Ryzen 9800X3D or something like that.

what are you trying to do? Lower your GPU usage?

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands,Far Cry 6,Grid Legends

No maxing out my gpu in games where it's possible without out my cpu using alot of power and getting hot

Ok so there are 2 ways to do that:
1. Undervolt the CPU to use less power, lower the loadline
2. Set a power cap in the bios to 65W / 125W / 180W or whateever to where you don't go past that in games.

11700 is a power capped 11700k

If you want a very efficient gaming cpu then a 7800X3D is the best, followed by undervolted new gen stuff (raptorlake/alderlake/zen4)

Not possible if i have to take throttling in accoun

Whats the point of having a cpu that has to low power limit so it goes down in speed in the most intensive games while multitasking

For my setup Turbo boost power Max is to low, atm 5ghz on all core avx and avx 2 -4x (400mhz) -0.100 volt

11gen is where intels started to get hot

That's what an 11700 would do - that's the only way they are '65W'

i agree - 11th gen is brutally hot - much hotter than any other gen. It was designed for 10nm but made on 14++++++++ - the good news is they're happy sitting at 100C all day, the bad news is -- well they're at 100C all day.

Might be time for a thermalright cooler (peerless assasin) or something along those lines.

No no no i mean what if the cpu get's power limited, if it don't get enough power to run at there native specs, speed ?

My 11 gen cpus i had to raise power limit for it not to throttle at stock speed in stress test, turbo boost power max was to low although Turbo boost short power max was high enough (stock is as fare as i remember 150 or 151 watt)

How many % CPU load do you see when gaming/benchmarking?

As example my CPU load is around 20~35% with various games among GTA V while my GPU stays close to ~100% load. (1440p)

Have had a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE, it had a faulty fan, it wasn't smooth sounding, before i really started using it i returned it (not shure what the performance diffrence are between the 2 thermalright coolers)

My current cooler is really good and can handle 250 watt https://boringtextreviews.com/2023/03/18/deepcools-gammaxx-ag500-bk-argb-reviewed/

It's not so much the ability to handle high wattage but that i would like a 65 watt slightly bigger cpu with lower power consumption and a little less heat, even when heat at normal usage isn't a problem, only avx,avx2 prime95 small fft and small fft above 4.4ghz on the hottest time of the day. I don't think im ready to buy a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 again, im happy with my DeepCool ag 500 argb lestt then 40 euros + shipping

The ones in your pictures, it looks like the left cooler only has 4 heatpipes, while the right cooler should be better with it's 6 heatpipes.

97-98% is pretty much normal in most new-ish games at higher settings/res.
My 3060 Ti paired with a 12100F is also reaching 98% in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 'the 2022 game' on Ultra settings+2560x1080 res if I uncap my FPS.
The dragon keep wonderlands game from 2021 is using Unreal engine 3 and is not really utilizing modern hardware that well.

Not all games + cpu uses my cpu the last 10-15%, not close when i oc

It was which tomb raider games has a benchmark but nice to what to use for benchmarks
