RX 7900 XT freezing/restart computer AFTER closing games

Hi All,

So the situation is that often after closing out (quitting) a game my computer will freeze and then the computer will restart itself. When actually running the games I have had no issue - solid and consistent performance.

Interestingly, it takes multiple seconds (possibly up to 10) to actually freeze. I've identified the 7900 XT (AMD reference card) as the culprit. When I turn-on "Radeon Chill" to limit the framerate (set to 30FPS) and let the card gently cool down to like 65C before closing the game then the issue does not happen. I am running the card at stock/default setting and while gaming the worst-case temps I see are ~85C (Zero Dawn Horizon, God of War). I also play CS2 and limit the framerate to 170fps so that game never gets above 75C. BUT - I have had the exiting game freeze issue happen sometimes even from exiting CS2 without allowing for some "cool down" period. It's like the card can't cope with a quick drop in load/power when running->exiting most games. I did run the stress test in AMD Adrenalin for 5 minutes with no trouble at all when that test concluded.

I'm thinking about maybe downloading some video card benchmarking software and see if that would cause the freeze/crash seconds after finishing the benchmark tests.

Any thoughts? Is my card defective? Driver updates have never solved the problem and I also went back to a driver from like 6 months ago and that did not help.

System:
i5-13600K (undervolted quite a bit)
ASUS TUF GAMING B760M-PLUS
32GB DDR PC3200

Thanks!
