yea, agree if laptop, since the cooling performance is limited, you can OC it but just a little.

if you OC it much and your laptop goes hotter that it should it can affect the rest of the components
safer you OC desktop

i've overclocked my laptop just fine. just benchmark before and after each increment you raise and record it, if its getting hot and throttling performance will decrease.

that hardware is quite old, even OC'd it wont run much better.

yep, one main effect of OC is your processor is getting hotter, for laptop i think theres nothing you can do about it except cleaning your fan and heatsink and applying better paste

if you wanna do, just go for it, just raise it little by little and test it

@reda77 Perhaps overclocking your laptop is not the brightest idea at the moment, considering that you just finished grappling with the GPU's thermal issues just a few days ago. That is, if you want your laptop to turn into a blazing fireball, I can't stop you. The only laptops that should be overclocked at all are the bulky desktop replacement / high end gaming laptops that have the fin area and heatpipes to deal with the heat.

This hardware is old anyways. Overclocking won't be doing much in terms of speed; do you have an SSD? A solid state drive would make a difference, if you don't have one already. I doubt that overclocking the T4300 will get you very far if it's even possible to begin with; that thing has half the L2 of even my T7100.

Swap that CPU out for something faster, the T9500 might slot right in.

not on that motherboard, no.
as much as I know the op is way out of his depth here ...
upgrading may be a option tho most socket P boards support a faster cpu
being a 800fsb cpu that means the chipset is likely a intel GL40 or GM45 based board which should support up to a core2 T9300
while its not likely to improve gaming performance much going from the t4300 to a faster chip would help
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-...ssor-Tested-/231659485193?hash=item35effb3809 T9300 has the same TDP as the T4300 should be pretty much plug N play
