Hello,

Was hoping to get some advice on buying ssd. I know qvo is qlc and evo is tlc. The drive will be used as a game storage drive.
Should i go with bigger capacity or better flash? The 860 evo 1 tb is 109€, the other option maybe is kingston a400 960 gb(tlc but dramless) for 88€.

Thanks in advance for the advice and opinions :).

I would go with the 1tb QVO, its only going to be used for gaming. QVO is not so bad like people think. I use 2 intel 660p that have QLC nand. I used them for gaming, movies/show watching and editing videos on a small scale.

If only for games, a QLC drive should be good enough, however the warranty is just 3 years or 360TBW.
Personally I would go for a 870 Evo 1TB, 600TBW or 5 years warranty however it's more expensive.

870 Evo sounds great but here in Belgium price is 140€ or more... do you think the qvo is worth it then? Only as a game storage drive?

Even if you need to buy a new one after xx years, it wasn't that expensive in the first place.

Of those three, I would go for the QVO. The A400 is notoriously unreliable, and for a storage drive, you're looking for best cost/GB, which eliminates the 860 Evo. These SSD resources provided by Newmaxx on Reddit are second to none: https://www.reddit.com/user/NewMaxx/comments/9yv0c6/ssd_buying_guide_wip/

Depending on what country you're located in, you can likely find cheaper storage-class SSDs than the Samsung QVO - you pay more for the Samsung brand name. Personally I'm using a 1TB Inland (microcenter store brand) drive for games storage. Got 1TB for 80USD in store last year.

Edit: For example, the 1TB 870 QVO is going for 100USD here, while you can find a 1TB TEAM EX2 for 80USD

I live in Belgium. Prices are not that great. Cheapest 1 Tb drive is the Qvo. 1 Tb Evo is 109€. The inland i cannot even find.

If you want a cheaper drive, look for a used SSD. Make sure you ask the seller to send you a info screen shot like from CrystalDiskInfo. I've gotten all of my SSDs that I use, used but in very good condition. There is nothing wrong with using used computer parts besides Power supplies and normal HDs. Those two parts I would have only new.

Wouldn't expect you to be able to find Inland in Belgium as Microcenter is a US-based retailer.

Those are search results on Belgium PCPP for 960+ GB 2.5" SSDs filtered by price. It lists a WD Blue 3D for 94€. If that's cheaper than the QVO, I'd opt for that.

Edit: Forgot you listed QVO price in the title. My initial recommendation of the QVO stands, unless you can find something cheaper from the storage-class SSDs detailed in the resources found in the link I shared
