I have seen, using an Hd-fury Vertex that my RX-VEGA is not able to enstablish a HDCP 2.2 connection, only 1.4 while I have not this problem ( same pc and TV ) using a RX 470 or a RX 480 ...

Could be a bios problem? I have tried with several different release drivers but no change at all, always HDCP 1.4 with the Vega

Did you load the newest AMD Catalyst? Did you install the newest after UNINSTALLING the other card and with the NEW card physically installed then installing the new cats?
Welcome to TPU!!:lovetpu:

I see you have an older post here with no help https://community.amd.com/thread/223244

Bummer even on their own site :shadedshu:

Thanks and greetings from Italy :)

Yes, I tried with several fresh installed drivers revision, and the Vega does work perfectly, except that the connection to the display is always and only HDCP 1.4, while with a RX470 I can choice ( using the HD Fury Vertex ) between HDCP 1.4 or 2.2, being the TV an LG OLED 55B7V.

This is really strange; I do hope that somebody can verify this too, only for understand ...

Obviously for to play not protected videos the HDCP 1.4 is sufficient, however with the HDMI 2.0 the HDCP 2.2 should works, exactly like do the RX-470.

I have also posted this in the official AMD support forum, but no answer ...

Well your question should certainly do better here at TPU than it did over at AMD forum........it may take a day or two so be patient, and again welcome to the forums I think you will find a lot of good information here and if you are techie too then maybe we will see you chipping in to solve other peoples issues too:toast: I think you are techie as I see you using the Hd-fury Vertex;)

Have you tried to become a beta driver tester? That way the driver team may be easier to get to. Since you have a Vega that is probably better for them. I know @fullinfusion used to give beta testing recommendations. Check with him.

Sadly AMD is on Banker holidays, They knocked off right after the 17.12.2 driver and wont be back till after the new year.

Many fixes are coming out from my understanding but heck who knows, All they seemed to care about was the OverWatch game but left Freesync and a bunch of other issues be till they get back...

It saddens me that during Christmas lots of ppl got free sync monitors to find out any dec driver was busted... I yell but I also have a boss that yell's at the higher up's that don't seem to give a crap because it's holiday time... Believe me it frustrates me to no end how they release a driver , no! 2 drivers that are broken when they are supposed to be solid year end driver...

I'm upset because I have a have a pair of half working Vega cards here that I spent $1600 dollars on to be what, one a paper weight, and the other a half working card :shadedshu:

I'll post soon as I get info but till then I'm the same, SOL till a new beta comes out

Try updating your monitors Firmware or use a different port, sometimes drivers need to be removed and installed for new cards, Polaris and Vega are different from each other

I have tried also using another display ( this time a Philips LCD pc monitor) that connect to the RX 470 and RX 480 in HDCP 2.2 but again with the RX Vega the HDCP is 1.4 ...

Sure, if I can help in some manner, I will do it :)

Are you using a HDMI 2.0 Cable. I see no one mentioned that. A good cable can make or break a setup bud

Yes, I have many 3 feet and 6 feet certified HDMI 2.0 18Gbps premium cables, the same cables that with the RX480 does work in HDCP 2.2.

Could be a specific problem of the Sapphire RX-Vega? I do say this because without an HDFURY you cannot see if the connection is HDCP 1.4 or 2.2 ...

Look up your specific model online, swap cables, swap to displayport, contact card maker, remove drivers and reinstall them. Make sure monitor is at factory defaults too

AMD is looking into it. I'll let you know what they say.

I will try again with the last drivers, however my instint say that there aren't the HDCP 2.2 key on the Vega board ( bios or some microcode? I don't know ).

I do say this because a year ago I had a similar problem on the embedded Intel VGA of a kabylake cpu, where the HDMI 2.0 of the mother board and the relative hdcp used an external chip.
After several customer's reports of the problem, ASrock said to the customers to download and run a special program that update the chips with the HDCP 2.2 keys and after this magically the HDCP 2.2 worked ...

I don't know if can be a similar thing for the AMD Vega

Thanks to all

If the latest drivers still do it, it's a real possibility that there's something wrong with the card. Perhaps contact Sapphire? They may ask you to RMA the card because AIBs don't like consumers flashing VBIOS.
