Ive had a 3080ti for a while now and ever since getting it, ive experienced a crash/system lockup every few days, sometimes more than that, but never less. What happens is i can be playing a game, watching a video, or just sitting idle and the screen will freeze, audio will continue to play for around a minute or so before my monitors turn off and then the system auto reboots, then everything is fine untill days later.
Ive looked at the windows event log to get an idea of whats happening, one time it said a critical error with a nvidia dll file (nvkdm or something along those lines) but every other time ive looked ive basically found nothing, other than the system realising it has recovered from a crash, nothing about the cause.
So while this isnt a issue that will make my system unusable, i do wonder if there is something thats sticking out to one of you people to be the cause? id ideally like it to be fixed, but its very hard to look up this issue cause it happens so "rarely"
Happy to provide any more info if its needed, thanks in advance.
EDIT:
Ive looked further into this via checking out the memory dumps from windows, which tells me both times its been nvlddmkm causing the crashes, the latest two are 10 days apart exactly, first crash is "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and the second is "VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE" ive pasted the logs into pastebin if that helps anybody. DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE
Theres a fair few people that have fixed this issue by removing software that controlled various parts of the gpu, but i dont have any of that installed to begin with so that wont solve my case i think, another fix ive seen is people changing the pci express link state management to off, mine was at medium so ive tried turning it off for now and will see how that goes. But due to the nature of this crash, it might take quite a while to see if this fixes it or not.
Ill just list some things ive already tried and some information about my setup that could possibly be useful.
Ive tried several drivers, old and new. Reinstalled windows. Switched power cables for the gpu. Got rid of Asus Ai Suite.
Should be noted i have a 3 monitor setup, main g sync monitor connected via display port, and two side monitors connected via hdmi.
